  1. What people don't understand is players want to play hockey. They don't care about contract talks. If his agent tells him Detroit is a good spot and the money is right he'll be back. Most players across all professional sports have teams on their list and Detroit is obviously still on his list so he defers everything to his agent and will listen and make a decision. But he also recognizes that he proved his worth and deserves the right to explore his options.

  2. Kane is just keeping his cards close to his vest. I think he knows his playing days are numbered and is trying to leverage out the best deal he can get by intentional being vague. The smart move was to trade him before the last deadline, now the next best move is to try to sign him for a 1 year deal to make a playoff push or trade at the deadline to a contender. Other than that, I don't think he makes much sense on this roster.

  3. I bet a lot of money he gets an extension, he’s not desperate for another cup or in a rush like people think he is,if he was desperate he would of stayed with the rangers he’s not in a rush or desperate anymore like ray bourque was 🤣.

People seem to forget he already has won three Stanley cups which only a small handful of active players have done .

  4. I hope he stays but I don’t imagine him staying, unless he takes a pay cut or if some of the other resignings take pay cuts( Perron, sprong, seider, Raymond, Fischer, bergrenn, and all of the ahl guys who have made cases to come up that need to be resigned) lots of guys need contracts and there are a couple bad ones yet too but I so hope that kaner comes back

  5. Should have stayed with the Rangers.
That being said I see him doing a Marian Hossa and just shop around for a Stanley.

  6. As a Wings fan, it was a lot of fun to watch Kane this season, and I’m not against him coming back. That said…Raymond and Seider are getting HUGE new contracts, and the team needs to get younger. If they can get what they got from Kane out of Berggrin, Kasper, or Danielson…they probably should go that route. It will save them a ton on the cap and allow them to add at the deadline. Also, a lot of the kids in GR are getting to the point where they’re not waiver exempt anymore, so…they really need to make the team, or Stevie needs to trade them.

  7. Been thinking about this and got some thought.

About money: I don't think that will be a deciding factor in where he signs, he made his money. If he is looking to get paid what he's worth I think a contract like 8 or 9 mil a season would be a fair value, I don't think he is looking for that.

About the cup: Does he want to win another cup, if he does he might want to be on a contender, but he won't be top six minutes.

About Mentoring: Does he want to be a mentor and help young players out, if you then he probably won't be on a contender. Most contenders don't have a lot of youngsters on the roster.

About playing time: Does he want to be on the ice a lot, if he signs with a contender he probably won't be on the top 2 lines.

About NTC: At this point in his career I think can get demand a full NTC and I think that it will be part of any contract he signs.

I am sure there are other factors in where he wants to go. If he is going to go or stay I think he has already made up his mind and I think Yzerman know it as well.

  8. I’d like to see Kane return only if Yzerman can place a couple/few different pieces to this team so they can win more with Kane. I believe Yzerman put players in place without the exception of Kane coming to Detroit, hence why they had a better record without Kane, even while he was hurt. I believe the Wings had around a .500 with Kane and around a .700 record without Kane.

  9. My thought on this: Patrick Kane is a very good fit for the Red Wings at this point in his career and he knows it. So does Yzerman. I see him staying in Detroit because he knows this team is competing now and they are just a few pieces away from being a real powerhouse again. And he also knows he could be a very big part of that. I see him getting another contract with Detroit because he proved to us he is still the player he once was. He can demand a higher salary because his presence in the locker room has got to be a benefit for all the younger players in the organization that are here or soon to come up. I don't think we are going to just let him go that easily.

  10. I didn't take it this way at all. I don't think he's really thought about it yet. Just let him be, you're blowing this up

  11. Can't imagine him going to any other team besides his hometown team the sabres if he leaves Detroit.
