When was this from? YesterdayI watched a clip of them with Drance and another guy – they said it started day-to-day, then later in the evening confirmed it was week-to-week when they got more information. Kevin Woodley, their goalie guy, said he’s done for the series, unlikely for round 2, and « maybe » for conference finals if we’re still around.

Would love to learn that’s not the case. Seems all we can do is wait and hope.

  2. Dear Mr. Demko: Take my energy, take my knee. Wish you a speedy recovery to full health.

Dear Mr. DeSmith: This is your chance to shine, you have shown you are capable of stepping up your game when we needed you the most. You can do this.

Dear Mr. Pettersson: You are one of the best players in the league when you are confident. We all know you can have it in you. I know once one puck goes in for you, everything will fall in its place and you will be putting up multiple point games one after another.

  3. I mean, it’s not good news no matter how you slice it. They won’t last against Edmonton without Demko. Heck they are a coin flip to beat Nashville. What an awful way to cap what had been a good season.

Honestly, I just want him to be fully healthy going into next season.

  5. I’m a big Demko fan. Have been since day one. That said, I don’t want to be « that guy », but if I was Allvin I’d be seriously looking around the league for a #1 netminder in the off-season. Demko had a great year, but these yearly injuries are not sustainable moving forward if we want to be a serious playoff contender.

  6. CapnPositivity

If that news doesn’t fire up the team to give Demko the time he needs to recover I don’t know what will

    Hold the line

  7. When we’re at the level that it’s worth mentioning that our goalie can still walk, we’re fucked 💀

  8. If it doesn’t need surgery then it may be an MCL strain. That would be great news for Demko and the offseason but he wouldn’t be back even if we made it to the finals.

  9. Flanman1337

Yeah, I’d give you my knee Demko but you definitely do not want it.

  10. ReclaimerM3GTR

Well Dhali is reporting this, definitely gives me hope. I don’t want to see Demmer rush back into net if he’s gonna cause more damage to himself

  11. HogwartsXpress36

He’s done for the playoffs. Will just continue developing new strains in same knee until he can do prolonged rehab or get surgery needed to fix it

  12. waistbandtucker69

That fact they have to clarify that he can still walk doesn’t make me feel super confident about a healthy return anytime soon

  13. CaptainIndoCanadian

Hell yeah. I’m hoping the Canucks win a barn burner 6-4 where DeSmith looks mid. Tocch goes to Silovs cause if you’re gonna give up 3-4 a game might as well go with the young guy with star potential over the career backup.

If the Canucks can find a way to get back to their offensive power, and continue playing good defence, then they have a good chance of winning the first round. I wouldn’t even write off the second round if we make it that far. Personally, I think DeSmith and Silovs just need to share the work load and we still have a chance, especially if Demko returns even half way through the second round. Of course the odds are a lot less without Demko but I wouldn’t fully write off this playoff run yet despite Demko’s injury.

I get the feeling that one injury was an MCL tear and the other a torn meniscus. The time lines would match that and him being able to walk without a limp would also mesh. Moving and flexing like a goaltender needs to do would be a different story.

I’d offer up my knees to Demmer but I wouldn’t wish these bad boys upon anyone.

  16. UrbanZoologist

Snatcher Demko ripping out our collective hearts with his glove of love. Rest up sweet Prince so you can steal us victories in round two and beyond.

  17. metrichustle

I hope he has a full recovery, but this is something management needs to consider in the off-season. Is Demko a guy we can rely on to play a full season (55-60 games) + whatever playoffs bring? Or do we need to bring in someone else?

He’s only have 1 season over 60 games and he’s had an injury issue every year except for 2020. All the top goalies in the league have a heavy workload and aren’t nearly as injury prone.

  18. theclansman22

I sprained my MCL in the summer, probably worse than Demko, it still isn’t 100% and it hampered my ski season until
Mid January. I was subconsciously favouring it and my form was just incredibly stiff.

  19. Mister_Me_Seeks

What body part does he need? My knees? My groin? Just tell me and I’m on the next plane to Nashville. PREP THE SURGERY ROOM DOC!

  20. jackfrench9

Yup Demko is done for the playoffs. He won’t play again this season.

And I daresay that fact will worm its way into the heads of the rest of the guys.

    Experience Canucks Hockey.

  21. I wonder if this is a result of overplaying demko again. He missed 5-6 weeks and still played 51 games. That’s too much.

  22. mediumyeet

Time to see what you can get on the trade market for him this summer and go find a goalie that can stay healthy.
