Putting Zaddy netfront when we pulled our goalie was a great coaching decision by Tocchet. I don’t think there’s a player in the league that can outmuscle him in a netfront battle, and unlike most big defensemen I feel
he actually has the hands to finish if the puck came to him

Feels good to be on the right side of these kinds of “Dustin Byfuglien” situations.

The fact that we had Z and Garland as net presences together is hilarious
Grapesodazoo2
Everything about this goal was spectacular. From Hughes juking Nyquist out of his jock to Boeser corralling the puck and shoving it home. Up there as one of the most entertaining sequences of the year. Brock’s celly was the cherry on top.

I love big Z, he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Garland goes to the net front first and ties up a Preds player who is trying to stay with him. Big Z then comes in after and ties up the other Preds damn so that Boeser has all the time and space in front.
Great play by both Z and Garly.

I wonder if this is something to try on the pp? Maybe pp2 to start.
Plus he skates so well and is huge. Him at wing on a pp could be a zone entry machine.

These sort of “basketball box outs” should be more frequently utilized offensively & defensively.

We need to re-sign this guy, will be a mistake if we dont. Plz Alvin

What’s the difference between this and interference? Asking as a hockey noob

He’s been amazing in these playoffs. More impact that Hronek so far. Starting to really see the importance of big defencemen in the post season.

I absolutely loved this move and I don’t understand why they hadn’t tried it out before. Even give it a look on the PP when it needs a shake up

I wonder if Zad netfront is something they’ve been working on and were waiting to unleash it as a secret weapon

Breaking down the 3 goals is nuts. All of our top players all came through.
Man Saros plays soo far out of the net. Imagine needing to hold onto a game for 10 seconds and not being tight to the post. Goalie coaches would be furious.

Big z proving be just as important to this core as anybody (cough hronek)
HarveySpecter1970
Ngl we should be re-signing this guy and dak over hronek. Trade hronek for a solid prospect and sign a defensive rhd for hughes in free agency.

Big Zaddy Daddy is a mean machine.

Put it in the Louvre.

That’s why Shorty rocks. He identified it right in time.

Big Z has had such an impact on the team since he joined and it’s only amplified during the playoffs. He’s one of the players that brings that « grit » that the Canucks have been sorely missing.

I see Garland boxing out 3 preds

On Halford and Brough this morning they sounded skeptical the team can re-sign Z because he’s really going to want to cash in. I think I might prioritize him over even Joshua simply due to his position but maybe it’ll just come down to cost. Maybe chef Allvin can find a way to keep both or maybe he’ll keep the one who is simply cheaper on the cap.
But it doesn’t matter right now because they are team mates for this specific playoff run right now.
