@Penguins de Pittsburgh

Stupid move. Ownership really pissing me off right now.

Someone at FSG must have a kid that wanted the job.

Shame, but that salary needs to be distributed to the shareholders. There was no other choice.

  4. I’m sure it sucks right now, and she’ll have to move, but another team will scoop her up with a massive pay raise I bet. Well deserved.

Aw man I hate to hear that, all the Pens socials are pretty great and I especially loved all the In The Room stuff. I’m sure she’ll land on her feet though, the quality of her work speaks for itself!!

Likely already have a few of these folks in the FSG org that will absorb her duties. This happens regularly in acquisitions, otherwise you end up with too many execs, which doesn’t look good on the salary balance sheet.

The bright side is, she’s got a good resume and will have no problem finding a job.

« I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing, and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while actually producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.”

  8. Thanks for this FSG and for axing In The Room which everybody loved

  9. Ever since we had an ex Flyer GM and a Boston ownership group it’s been downhill. This is what owners that don’t have an emotional stake and loyalty to the team or city look like. The family atmosphere that was here with Mario’s involvement is gone. The Penguins are now officially just product to be sold. The family is now disfunctional and it shows in the kids behavior on the ice. Shame. We were spoiled with Mario.

This was a real head scratcher. Andi is fantastic.

Did people in this sub forget that this is still a business above everything else

Don’t get me wrong it sucked but we are coming out of the covid years (didn’t make any changes during this remember) after missing playoffs again (no extra ticket revenue from playoff games)

Did we expect it to be status quo? This is Pittsburgh, you can barely call it a medium market. You can’t just keep hemorrhaging money. This is what it’s like when the team isn’t successful. Does anyone remember the early 2000s? I expected this sooner and a lot more tbh. I am happy it’s not hockey ops staff but I have a feeling they aren’t entirely safe yet either. We have to get used to this unless we start looking like a playoff team

  12. Maybe it was the robot voice on the guentzel tribute video that sealed her fate

  13. As someone who works in sports, this is tangentially the threat that always exists. Once you get too expensive you’re out.

Not saying it’s right or wrong, just what the market dictates. They’ll have no problem backfilling the role with someone already in their structure or hiring out a more up and coming person for 70% of what she made.

I worked under her for a graphics internship. Such a shame, what a wonderful and great person to get to know!! Here’s hoping to better things!

  15. Best digital marketing executive in the league but yet the official Twitter account is the last one to post a goal replay.

We’ve wanted a digital subscription to watch Penguins games without cable for years. She didn’t give it to us, FSG came in and gave it to us.

Ive followed her on Twitter for years and she’s great but you’ll have to tell me what I’m missing out on.

  16. Whenever moves like this happen, all I hear from ownership is “we’re anticipating not making the playoffs for the next five years, so let’s save some $ while we can.”

  17. The social media really hasn’t been that good imo. Some of y’all are acting like she was amazing and her work was groundbreaking lol.

  18. Substantial-Meal3409

Hope she lands in Vancouver with the rest of the Pens staff alum.

  19. IamChantus

Didn’t she try and push out the bad spirits by going around the Paint Bucket with burning sage?

This is one of those things where new ownership is looking at the books, saying « we can operate without this, » and cutting it. Then in a few years when the team is really terrible, and now there’s none of the personality that made this team the fun member of the community it once was, they’ll be boo-hooing the empty arena and zero fan engagement.

  21. Dude…I know Lemieux hired Hextall. Doesn’t change the fact that it broke the first seal of the Penguins apocalypse. Selling to Boston ownership broke the 2nd seal. What’s next? A move to Cleveland??
