The Leafs did all they could this morning to keep some mystery about their Game 7 lineup — namely, whether Auston Matthews plays.

To me that sounds like Matthews might actually be playing, no? If they didn’t think they could play him, they wouldn’t change the entire skate to obfuscate it.
This is some next level trickery lol. Is it just me or does this feel like it could be more bad than beneficial to the team?

I dunno. If we have to keep this so secretive that even the teammates have to participate in this suggested ‘bate and switch’, maybe it’s best he not play. We’ve done fine without him so far and once we secure a second round then we talk about re-integrating him.
To me this feels like a strong liability.
I’m fine with a 15-minute skate only. The team’s been playing well and have been in sync, so there’s no need for them to work hard on game day.
I’m all for the Matthews confusion. Don’t let Boston know anything until right before game time.
They need to just play a team game. I feel like they get into just feed Austin trap. You know he’s going to have someone on him if not two players watching. We need a big game from everyone. Either way these are the games win or lose are why we are fans of hockey. Game can’t start soon enough. Hyped!

I don’t know if I would want a 30% of Matthews over a 100% Noah Gregor right now.
If only they could do practice without media, so they could whatever they wanted to, instead of playing mind games and potentially shortening the practice for mind game reasons.

Can he get further hurt if he plays? That’s the only decision. If he can’t worsen his condition by playing, he’ll dress.

IMO if Matthews plays they lose. If he’s not on the ice they win.
It’s not a team when he’s on the ice and it handicaps the leafs because they focus more on the pass than a shot. Takes them out of a flow state.
Love Matthews but the line should include him as a piece, not as a solo god.
Some argue that Boston’s poor play has at least something to do with the fact that they are coached primarily around containing Matthews.
With Matthews out, Boston’s play has been completely out of whack.
So anything that keeps the Bruins guessing until the last minute, is a good thing.
