Not too shocking, he had every opportunity this season to show some sort of progression or growth and he really hasn’t. I’d like to add a goalie prospect this off-season though, with Hugo not working out we really don’t have anything coming up and while we don’t need to worry about getting a number one for some time, it would be nice to have a potential future backup on the come up.

He has had 3 seasons in a row to take control of the net with limited competition. Lost out to a mediocre AHL journeyman in Legace 2 times and an ECHL tweener in Halverson this year (although he has been solid this year.)

It is too bad he looked good in stretches the last 2 years but has just totally collapsed at the end of the year. From my interaction with him he seems to be an okay guy, hopefully he figures it out in Sweden. Just doesn’t seem to be able to hold it together mentally.

I follow the Solar Bears but not the Crunch as much. When Tompkins was sent back down to the Crunch, I assumed that Halverson would come back to Solar Bears. When he didn’t, I assumed Hugo was hurt. Are they choosing to play Halverson over Hugo?

  4. Was hoping when he came over he’d progress and make the team either this year or in 2024-2025. It’s not really that big of a deal that he isn’t going to pan out so good on him on choosing home I guess.

Vasy/Tomkins/JoJo will be *fine* for next year if Vasy has a bit of rebound year

  5. I honestly never understood the obsession with Alnefelt, he never really was a top-prospect and with Vasy locked in we wouldn’t need him even if he was good. Solid backups are always available on the market for cheap. I don’t think this move is to revitalise his career, he’s just going back home as his NA career has failed. He is pretty funny though

I spoke with a family friend who works for the organization before the season about hugo and he said that Frantz Jean and JBB just were never really high on him and that he never really took that next step. Sucks because he was a third round pick but not every prospect pans out. 🤷🏼‍♂️
