Not optimistic this is going to work. At least with the roster as presently constructed. Get to work Brad! I think 2 of the core (5) have to go and it will be Mitch and…..wait for it…..Morgan. Both those guys will bring a haul back in good young players who are hungry. As for Johnny T. he may be a buyout victim or else playing at 3rd line C for one more season then he can walk. As for a goalie we don't need a super elite #1, just a solid 1a/b guy to tandem with Woll. Look for Timmy L to be dealt as well……the D will be vastly different next season. Big changes are coming!

I think Berube will definitely change the culture in the dressing room . The problem with the PP is it won't change no matter who the coach is until you get a real quarterback on the point. Unfortunately Rielly is not that.

So overjoyed Quenneville wasnt picked. I was hoping anyone else lol. Wasnt expecting my #1 choice.
The only question worth asking is: will this hiring help the Leafs in any way?? If answer is no, then I’m totally for it, and hope he will lead to Leafs to many more years of misery and schadenfreude !

I'm from Owen Sound Ontario and I still have fond memories of Binnington playing for the Owen Sound Attack when they won the OHL Championship in 2011. I knew he would be a good goalie in the league and I was so happy when he won the cup in 2019. I forgot Berube came in the same time as Binner in the cup run season

Steve, you are perpetuating a myth, or at the least an incomplete story. You are not telling the whole truth. The St Louis Blues are said to have been in last place on January 2, 2019 only because they had the fewest points. They had also played the fewest games. Percentage-wise they were in 25th place out of 31 teams. Six teams had poorer records on that date.

Except I heard the podcast before I saw this vid, and I know that other than the Unicorn known as Scotty Bowman and one guy from the mid *1930s* and another guy whose final Cup as a coach coincided with **the end of the Korean War**, no coach who has won a Cup has gone on to coach a second Stanley Cup with a second team. Don’t mean to be a downer, but that’s not the most encouraging history for me
That said, only one coach has really had a crack at Auston Matthews…

I can't stand those "flash in the pan," "fluke" remarks about the Blues. Flukes don't win championships. Flukes don't win 16 games against the best teams in the leagues.
And even if it was a flash… it still happened. This team won the Stanley Cup, and nobody can ever take that from us.
I think if anything, Craig Berube brings an unknown essence to the Leafs’ locker room. That alone should pull a few players up by their bootstraps.
It could be argued that Marner might thrive under his direction. That comment about the Country Club being over could be given a post comment: Goodbye Country Club, hello Army Barracks.
I think he will take the good team Sheldon Keefe has built and turn them into something great.
Love to see Brad Treliving get him an ace goalie and a truly great defenceman to add to the mortar of the team.

I am not at all thrilled, not saying this guy won't be good but the players don't show up in the playoffs. The Leafs didn't play for Babcock and Keefe. Coach is only as good as the players

Berube won’t be able to solve the Leafs problems with his motivational skills alone. Keep in mind that the Blues were absolutely stacked in 2019 especially defensively and the modern 1-2-2 trap game that Berube had the Blues master was not something that just any team could perform effectively game in and game out as the Blues only used that system for two years in 2019-2020 when they were an elite defensive team and the Leafs are nowhere near an elite defensive team currently. All of the Leafs problems are tied to their flawed roster construction with almost half of their cap tied up in 4 players and none of the Leafs problems in the Playoffs will be rectified until they are able to shed some of those bloated contracts and have more depth and balance across their lineup.
Marc Savard was a 1 and done head coach with the Spitfires of the OHL❤️💙. If he comes to TO, he better bot be coaching the D, cuz our d sucked ass when he was the coach. Shane Wright, Matt Maggio, and we couldnt hold the puck
