  1. If the Sens don't sign him it will be a few years down the road before this team get's act together.

  2. Shane pinto for approx 5 million is an absolute steal. Holy fuck give him 8×5 NOW.
    Also, intro is a banger

  3. Pinto has showed that he’s the best Center currently on the Sens, not the highest point producer but the Center that can most help the team win, pay him

  4. I'm surprised the deal isn't done. I'm not really worried right now. I believe Ian Mendes said to be concerned when numbers start becoming public. I won't be worried until a week or so after free agency starts but I would prefer for the Sens to show Pinto that he is a priority.

  5. Staios has no idea what he is doing in my opinion. He should have hired a GM with experience. He takes too long to get things done. People are going to walk. This seems like the old ownership and hiring a coach on the cheap again. I have no faith in Staios.

  6. I don’t see this being any different than when Brady signed his deal. It won’t be signed till the season starts till then it is a game of chicken, pinto wants as much dollars as possible and the Sens want to pay as little as possible. The leverage Pinto has is just not playing, which is what Brady did.

  7. This is the importance of setting precedence. We clown on the Leafs for having 4 guys take up half their salary cap, but even though it may not be as bad with the Sens, management (Pierre Dorion mainly) has committed way too much way too fast to these players who haven’t done anything. I understand Chabot who was the first player to show a new lead was turning over from the old regime, Tkachuk who is our captain and Stützle and Sanderson are both stars. But Norris? Even Batherson’s contract could’ve just as easily become a Colin White type deal if you just looked at what he had produced when he got it.

Ross mentioned it, Pinto looks around and says “well the rest of the boys got paid so now I should too”. That cannot be how you run a business. Pay the long term contracts to the guys that deserve it. The rest of your team should be EXPECTED to change in the eight year period other guys have committed to. You didn’t need to sign 2 top six centres for 8 years.

Pinto is in a weird spot because, while he had played up, his point production is not that impressive. And despite being hyped up as a great two way centre, he didn’t play as much PK as either Norris or Stützle this season. I’m not saying he’s not a good player. I’m saying this is exactly the situation that Pillzy nailed in saying that this needs to be a bridge contract. $4Mx3y. Make it happen. GSG

  8. Bridge is the way to go here. Pinto has still to prove he is worth north of 5. The Norris situation throws it's shade here. That contract is a potential millstone around the management's neck and imo hugely affects the Pinto situation. Staios has no other choice than put a LT deal in the freezer. 3×4,25 is a fair middleground deal. If Pinto shows significant progress as a 2nd line center (2 consecutive 60pt seasons), sign him for 5 more years at Chabot's number.

  9. I won’t be worried about Pinto until August-ish, or late July. They’re focused on the draft right now.

And then maybe they wanna see how much they need to spend in free agency. That could dictate whether Shane gets a smaller bridge or a larger term and price. I’m not saying that’s what they SHOULD do, just it might be part of their process.

  10. anything above $2.5 x 3 years is ridiculous. guy ruined our season last year.

  11. As long as he's signed before camp I'll be happy… need the full squad ready to go, day one of camp to have a good start to the season for once!

  12. Holy moly that new intro is banging has a hint of danger flute vibes in the beginning

  13. Maxim Massé plays in the Quebec city of Chicoutimi and that is pronounced like “SHA-COOT-A-ME“ @rosslevitan 😉

  14. I'm a big Pinto fan, but I agree with Brandon. There is too much range in what Pinto could turn into. He hasn't even played the equivalent of two full seasons. Hard to commit to something based on that small sample size. Sign him for 2-3 years and then re-sign him and pay him what he's shown he's worth.

Don't make the Colin White mistake, where a guy plays with premier linemates, puts up more points, and then struggles to earn his contract when he's back in the slot you expected him to play. Norris might get moved to the wing, and Pinto might be a 2C. But Norris might also play 82 games next season as the 2C and Pinto would be a 3C. I can understand why his camp probably wants a long-term deal based on last season with a lot of games as a 2C, but that's not his spot in the depth chart. Their nightmare would be Norris is back and healthy and Pinto plays a couple of seasons as a 3C and gets 30-35 points. That's not $5M. It's more like $3.5-4.0M.

  15. I am definately worried that Pinto isn't signed yet. It sounded like they were close at the end of the season but now the "insiders" are saying they are pretty far apart which is what I believe. He's shown he's worth the money so I don't know what the hold up is. Give him Tarasenkos money and move on.

  16. I truly wish I could say I love the intro, and it sounds good at the start, but i lunged for the skip button when I heard that woman's horrific voice that the Locked On Network uses melded in.
If the Stasi wanted to get me to confess to a crime I didn't commit, forget water torture or sleep deprivation or worse. Just play her voice over and over again in a small room and I'd break in 20 minutes.
I actually think this is an American sports journalism thing. Networks when choosing women broadcasters and especially on-the-scene reporters seem to go for the harsh, sharp voices. Maybe it's because they can penetrate through the crowds. But I find that painful. Imagine having a spouse or girlfriend who speaks like that. Yikes.

And yes, I'm overly sensitive to voices and sounds. So I'm probably alone in this opinion so don't take it personally fellas. Love what you guys do.

  17. My gut says Pinto wants at least 6, and will use Norris's salary and health status to force Staios's hand. If we could get him for close to 5 it'd be a steal.
Simmer made the great point this week that Poulin is on record multiple times raving that Pinto is at minimum a 2C. the agent will use that too.
Interesting Elliotte Friedman comment today about how teams often like to take their time on these things, and say it's not a sign of disrespect. But he said that doesn't mean the player doesn't see it as disrespectful.

  18. I also wonder if they want to go very short term to see how Halliday evolves. If it looks like HE's a solid middle-six centre option with upside maybe they don't need to capitulate to Pinto's demands. Plus maybe we need a guy on a short-term deal because he'll play more desperately. You have to wonder how comfy the core is on these huge and long deals.
