  1. Weird move by the Caps. I'm not seeing any potential for future paid subscription opportunities to monetize from it, and I refuse to believe a decent nhl franchise doesn't have a similar analytics tool themselves. But then what do I know, after all, I'm just a pleb Caps fan who's still using pirate streaming sites to follow games.

  2. If all the teams use the CapFriendly UI, and the Caps are buying it for exclusive use, is this something where Bettman can step in if it wasnt already cleared with the other owners?

  3. Markstrom to Toronto for Marner. I think could work as the Leafs need goaltending and the Flames need offense

  4. Don't Cap Friendly have a "No Waive/Trade or Business" clause", with whom ever it may concern?!🤔
I.O.W – All of us members/visitors/armchair GM:s/Fantasy Leagues etc etc!!!
Maybe someone should call some Law firm(s)?!🤷
    Nope, business as usual!!🤣

  5. Damn just damn I used capfriendly all the time it’s was my go to to keep track of everything going on with teams and contracts and IR

  6. It wouod be so funny if they turned it into a website for season ticket holders. CapFriendly, for friends of the Caps

  7. I see a lot of hate for the Caps… there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to hate the players and team for something that is a clear corporate decision. I don't get why people have to find ways to hate on teams for any reason.

I'm a Caps fan and I 100% agree that this is not a very good move at all (in many ways lol), but is at all possible to not hate?

  8. It just doesn't make sense that they'd essentially kill Capfriendly only for the profit of the capitals. It's not like other teams have cap-ologists.

  9. Chicago needs a solid 1-B Goalie, Soderblom is NOT the guy, Markstrom might be the 1-B with Mrazek while we're waiting for Drew Commesso or Jaxson Stauber. Alas, it's likely not gonna happen.

  10. only way the Caps could be more hated than this is if they hire Babcock and let him bench Ovi one goal short of the record for the rest of his career

  11. The thing about Marchessault, it's not just as easy as wait til July 1 and see what's out there. You're on a very aggressive team and if your preference is to play there, there's a risk of them filling up your cap space.

  12. The data Capfriendly used is publicly available, if you are that upset about it (which, come on, be honest, you are not, you will move on to the next thing to be really upset about tomorrow) pull the data and start coding. Or, find people smarter than you that can manipulate the data in such a way that it will be valuable to another NHL team. Did any of the outraged people here pay cap Friendly for the data they provided? Do you think people should work for free?

  13. Lol. Caps buying out CapFriendly?

    Who cares

PuckPedia is exactly the same. Have fun Caps buying out for millions, something that has a free and similar alternative.

  14. Wasting money on buying a site that’s rather useless, anyway.

Why bother even having a cap if certain teams are allowed to circumvent it so often?

You’re $10 mil over the cap? No problem. Which important player needs a rest before the playoffs; problem solved, now go out and pluck someone from a team we’ll make sure is cap compliant.

  15. So is Washington now a cup contender by this purchase? It will still be available but Gary will put a cost on in it. Somehow the NHL will make a profit off it and screw their fans.

  16. are the caps hoping to peak at the database to see what other teams have been theory crafting? more than trying to block/ distrubt others access
