Calgary fans cheering against Edmonton because of "their boys" Tkachuk and Bennett? Tkachuk couldn't get the f**k out of Calgary fast enough, and Flames fans torched Bennett because his career high was 36 points in 77 games in his rookie season, and didn't break 30 points after that. Flames fans tore Tkachuk a new one for wanting out of Calgary, and Bennett for being useless, and now they're in love with them? What a sad bunch of losers. You don't win vicariously because guys who got out of Calgary as soon as they could, won a cup.

Reading the comments, it seems there are more people here pulling for the Panthers from other teams then actual Panthers fans. Wow, Edmonton is that hated. I thought it was just me, Calgary, and Vancouver fans. Its funny every team that FL played this year, all the teams wanted to blow up their teams because they will never win. If FL sweeps, that means Tampa, Boston, and NY all did better against this team. Maybe the Rangers are much closer then they thought. Does that also mean Dallas is much further then they thought? I can't see the Panthers doing this again next year. Too much salary cap issues, unless everyone takes a pay cut. Forsling for Conn Smythe. Barkov plays unlike he's ever played. Doesn't seem to do a single mistake on the ice and the offense is something not seem from him at this level.
Inb4 every Oilers fan blames everything on Skinner, despite the Oilers only having 1 1/2 – 2 lines. Oilers – "goalies fault" is getting old. It might be a good time to realize that you should build some depth, an entire team.

Cats defense imo was also better in this game to keep high danger opportunities to minimum compared to Oilers's D
Oilers were absolutely NOT in control. Yes, they controlled O-zone time but it was mostly 1 and done and held to the wall/corners. Even the "high danger slot chances" you eluded to were lacking screens and shot directly into Bob's crest most of the time. The way he's playing, the Oilers were never going to win this way. Florida smothered them in the D zone and gave them no 2nd and 3rd chances. The latter half of the game they had trouble even getting to the redline. 2 goals were fluke deflections, and other than the flurry at the end there were very little high danger opportunities. This series has been over for about 10 days. Florida was always going to manhandle the Oilers. Their defense and goaltending is just mid. Too many turnovers and Skinner was inevitably going to turn back into Skinner at some point. Been saying it for 3 weeks, if a team can find a way to get sustained pressure on him, he'll fold.
Skinner is broken, oil are done. Bob in 4.
Oilers are screwed. Loads of injuries against a team with significantly more depth and a HOF goalie. If this ends in a sweep, nobody should be surprised.

People were saying that these games in the finals have been close. No they have not been. Only if you only watch spread sheets and not the game. Panthers dominates. Oilers have only seemingly been on top of the game occasionally. The shots against Bobrovsky mostly are easy to take. No short pass one timer shots and no near goal fights for the loose bucks has Oilers manage to get. Few break aways. Oilers makes a lot of mistakes. Oilers do not have a good game plan against the Panthers.
Only player that has been exclelent at the Oilers roster has been McDavid. But he do not get support from anywhere and he has to play against world best player atm Barkov. After Barkov there is Lundel, Bennet, Mikkola, Forlsing, Ekblad, Montour and final lock in the coffin Bobrovsky. McDavid needs to play against all of these players alone without any support.
Oilers somehow lost the focus after conference finals. Same happened last year with the Panthers. Oilers played much better against Stars than they are playing right now.
Maybe people in florida will start watching less high school and college football and watch a real sport more because of this? can only hope..not to mention watch less boring baseball/basketball
Team Canada has become Team Embarrassment. Also, no one cares if the games are close at times. At the end of the Day it only matters if you Win or Lose. Oilers haven't been able to Find a way to Win. I am not rooting for either team. I'm a Philadelphia Flyers fan and would prefer it it was my Team in the Cup. I'm just calling it like I'm seeing it. I think Oilers look like a joke. All the credit in the World to the Florida Panthers but I think this is Oilers fault for making way too many mistakes in all 3 games.

The time off after Conference Finals was time to plan. Florida knew from last year’s Final they had to be incrementally focused and be certain to micromanage every shift taking on high end end offense.
Oilers were ecstatic to be at this juncture and looked forward to the Finals Quest.
The reality was one team was knowing what they had to do. The other was dreaming they would hoist the Cup without considering the work at hand was everything,

As a hockey fan, can we ALL just enjoy this series? Edmonton is clearly giving it their best. They have NOTHING to be ashamed of. It really hurts to lose the cup, and the Panthers know that and aren't going to let it happen again. They ARE NOT going to be the same team next year, losing potentially 4 of their D and Reinhart. Their window is closing. The Oilers however will be back.
Honestly, I think the Cats should just sweep the Oilers. Nothing says poetic justice for Game 2 more than depiste everything the Oilers have tried, the Cats lifter the cup on their home turf.
I don't think Edmonton outplayed Florida. It felt like Florida had the game where they wanted it almost all the way. It's obvious this far though that Edmonton are lacking depthwise. Some of the goals are the results of poor defending from Edmonton and mistakes from their d men.
