If this happens I think that means Marino on the trade block. Nemec isn’t going back to the AHL. If Fitz signs Pesce for 5-6 and trades Marino, that’d only add 1-2mil in cap which would be a very reasonable upgrade for a reasonable price.

FWIW a friend has a plugged in source and he’s heard that it’s not 100% going to happen but if it does it’ll be in the 6×6 range. If that does happen, Marino or Siegenthaler will be moved (according to this source).

What kind of player is he? I’ve seen plenty of him but can’t seem to recall how he plays? More 2 way or more shutdown? Physical at all?

Hmmm can pesce penalty kill? Marino would be our number 1 option currently as Bahl and smith are both gone. I wouldnt be opposed to swapping Marino out, but only hesitation would be worried about ending up with just a more expensive Marino. But I don’t know enough about pesce, but my main criteria would be penalty killing. If he can do that well, that would be great. Then get another depth D like Mcnabb and that would be our first penalty killing pair. Sieg and Nemec could be the other and then Hamilton and lastly Luke if needed.

Spoiler alert: seeing as how we need a top 6 + bottom 6 + top pair defenseman + goalies + rebuild our prospect pool + a whole new coaching staff, the devils have been linked to everything hockey including available mascots and alternate jerseys this summer.

Hate the idea of this… Marino isn’t as consistent but he’s better at defense and offense and he’s cost controlled. Pesce is older, has been declining for 5 years consistently and is going to cost much more to be a 3rd pairing D… I’m starting to feel like Fitz has lost the plot a bit tbh at this point and he’s just going to be making changes to make changes. The best teams stay together for a long time because the chemistry that forms is invaluable. A lot of turnover is terrible for building a hockey team
