@Flyers de Philadelphie

I mean, Grant McCagg is a dope, but I do wonder if college athletes will be the new wary draft pick now that the Russians aren’t having too much trouble coming over.

I thought we already knew this?

Am I thinking of some other guy that is besties with Gauthier that was going in this draft?

I can totally see this being the issue 100% and I probably agree with that. Fool me once…..

Always good to hear that our franchise might shy away from top prospects because we’ve spoiled the relationship with an agent. Amazing.

If that’s the issue that makes sense

Really wanted Zeev or Helenius but honestly at least for zeev fuck it. I understand. It’s petty but fuck anyone with a professional connection to Cutter I guess lol. They where high on Jett and aren’t fucking around with this college BS anymore.

If he said he didn’t want to come here; Then call him out for indicating that. Fuck it. Blast this shit. Force a change with NCAA players having all this leverage so that this shit stops happening

Aren’t NCAA athletes not allowed to have agents but just advisors? Or is that no longer the case

McCagg as the cited source aside, I’ll say this: sometimes when there is smoke, there really is fire.  That said, watch the NHL teams who have or will pivot from college players. These things go in cycles. You always want to be ahead of the curve. Taking high upside major juniors and European players is a market inefficiency to exploit right now.

So, say you have a glaring need at a position of essential importance. And a player some random jamokes rank 18th, tests off the charts in raw athleticism– all the while being VERY young for his draft class. And still produces at a high rate. You try to trade up, too costly in the long term, and that player falls to you to the point you can trade back and get another asset for the future.

Do you just take the guy everyone says you should because they paid for a blue checkmark? Or do you take the guy that has the upside to be exactly what you need?

Very cool. Let’s pass on the BPA because our organization is a cluster and butchered the Gauthier situation.

Y’all are gonna spin this and downvote anyway.

Grant McCagg is a fucking moron, for what it’s worth. If you need proof, go look for his tweet about Michkov a few days ago.

It’s a brave new world. Kids want to play where they want to play. They won’t play in places any more that aren’t to their benefit. Draft be damned.

It’s been wild to see guys who literally knew nothing about these prospects leading up to the draft pretending that they now know absolutely everything lol.

    Peak Philly

I have to laugh. He has the same agent as someone who forced a trade so we shouldn’t draft Buium. And we should never draft a player that the agent represents. First, just because they share an agent doesn’t mean the same thing will happen. Second, if Buium is looking to be a free agent like Fox did and his agent let us know, he did us a favor, so why would we not deal with him ever again? Third, if he was going for the free agent route, why didn’t the agent tell Minnesota and every other team?
I think the Flyers screwed up by not drafting the bpa, not that there’s a big conspiracy going on
