  1. Middleton extension is fine, 4×4 is the going rate for hard-nosed top 4 defensemen, he should have a better year with Spurgeon being back this season

  2. I can respect Dubas slappin his junk on the table and saying, "This is what it is and this is what we're doing."

That said…. Idk if he even makes it two years when the core retires.

  3. Just want to thank you for your continuing great in depth coverage of all things NHL hockey …to me you have become the online version of old "The Hockey News" ….also are still doing player profile /history vids…..would like to see one on Ryan Murray ..one of those decent but so often injured "blink and you miss him" players ..remember i was so hyped when the Oilers signed him after his Stanley Cup run(kinda ironic considering the Oil chose between him and Yakupov in the draft) with the Av's and bang! the long term injury thing …still he was player i always liked . Keep up the great work and content .

  4. It's so gross that they decided to relase this news on the busiest day of the season…

  5. Big Z going to Boston is poetic justice. Course i respect Z for respecting Chara's legacy with asking to not be called Big Z in Boston. Tbh boston seems like a great fit for Zadorov

  6. The busier things get the better your videos. We are fortunate you decided to start a hockey channel, thank you Sir.

  7. Paying that much for Middleton seems strange but i like the amount of years. See if he can out preform from the previous year

  8. I can see a team hiring Quenneville, although with Bowman? Stan should've retired. Both scummy but Joel would get some interest considering he is a "winning coach".
I hope neither get a job in hockey again but you never know with some of these teams, look at Babcock he was seen as a cancer and still got hired after he was chased off.

  9. I mean I think Washington has pushed themselves up a lot the last few days. So why doubt the pens? Have to build through the trades like Washington probably cause of cap. But can see it happening

  10. Vincent will always be slow and the puck will always be a grenade to him. Wish him luck.

  11. NHL deserves a team with Babs and Quenneville sharing the bench. Get Bowman as GM and then all we need are those 5 players currently under investigation and Logan Mailloux to get signed.

  12. Pittsburgh should have started the rebuild when they missed the playoffs the first time… it'll be a miracle if they even make the playoffs with their ancient stars, let alone the cup. Would love to be proven wrong

  13. I guess the Canucks got a new fan today! I’m really heartbroken Sherwood wasn’t resigned by Nashville but with him all the best in Vancouver.

  14. Hope Stan Bowman becomes GM in Colorado or Vegas. I hate ‘em both and Scotty’s Little Boy is sure to screw them up.

  15. Neither Bowman nor Quenneville should ever work in the nhl again. Ever. If they had worked in any other business or organization they would have been thrown in jail for what they did. Protecting and enabling a sexual predator is just disgusting and will never have any justification.

  16. I hate the reinstatement. The NHL should have made a statement with at least a ten year ban.

  17. I thought Dubas said he didn't want to be GM again, and that it would just be a one year thing as he looks for the actual GM

  18. Rielly Smith was horrible last season after the first month. He ended the season on the 3rd line with O'Connor and Bunting ahead of him playing much better hockey. Trading him makes the Pens better, not worse. As for Dubas, I think the goal is to make the playoffs and see what kind of noise they can make with a core that has had playoff success. They are not going to eclipse the Rangers or Hurricanes barring massive bad years from them, but they have the top end talent to carry them in a playoff series.

  19. Wow. The Sens had to give up a first round draft pick for a contract issue and the Blackhawks only get a fine. And their coach/GM get to come back. And they get to keep all of their draft picks. And draft Connor Bedard. And then Levshunov (spelling) the next season….After they covered up the rape of a prospect. For fucks sake.

  20. Love that Middleton is sticking around, he may not be the best defenseman but he's got a great attitude and he can definitely boost the morale of the team

  21. As a Pittsburgh fan, they will be absolutely hard to watch next year. They desperately need a rebuild. I don't know what Dubas is thinking, the team is just too old and too slow… I expect them to be at the bottom of their division next year at this point…

  22. Dubas is in over his head. Just because you're good with numbers doesn't mean you can run an NHL team!

  23. to me with the reinstatement goes. If that was your kid and not even Kyle B. Many ppl forget the person that was assaulted after this because they looked over it. That is probably the worse result of this. If JQ was a srand up guy he would volunteer and make a difference in something vs wanting to coach again. He has made his money. Coaching again is not going to change anything.

  24. THG nailed it, NHL buried this press release on the busiest day of the year and a holiday in Canada no less. Classic Bettman/Daly. Anyone who hires these guys is just gross. I bet parents can't wait to send their 18 year olds off to training camp under these dirtbags.

  25. Quenneville spoke with Kyle Beach. Kyle Beach doesn't mind Q returning to the league. So, why do all of you?

  26. Good for Quenneville and Bowman. Everyone deserves a second chance. Wish coach Q was with the kings. Hell of a coach

  27. I've been a Pittsburgh penguins fan for my entire life just about, and the only thing I can think of that would get them a Stanley cup right now is Mario lemieux coming out of retirement once again to save our souls.

  28. Bowman is incredibly overrated. As a Blackhawks fan, I respect what was built during the cup runs, but Bowman did very little to build those teams. Other than Hossa, I feel like most of that heavy lifting was done by Dale Tallon. Clearly the Beach situation is inexcusable…I agree with THG…would be surprised if Bowman gets a GM job ever, likely an assistant or an advisor of some sort. Given what happened, he's lucky to say the least.

  29. I feel like the Pens have to say that lol. But honestly, if they started rebuilding/retooling several years ago, they could have been back in the race much sooner (like this season or next season). I think it's nigh impossible to do anything now.

  30. Pittsburgh have to bring up their only 2 worthwhile prospects and get them to play for real, see what Alex Nylander did when given minutes to play in a much lesser team…. Sam Poulin and Ty Smith (whom they got from NJ who maybe had him play too early in the NHL, is now a very good defenseman, the best pointer in Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Penguins and the only time PIT gave him play in the NHL, in 22-23 season, he had a goal and 3 assists in 9 (also +3), the "kid" is ready. They have extra cash to sign someone meaningful who is 25-29, (the Jeff Carter retirement helps too, they're not the kind of team with just a million or two below the cap. I think they might trade Jarry if Jarry becomes himself again, last year he was either great or awful, a lot of shutouts, but he still wasn't the guy he was before the injury he had at the end of the 21-22 season, last time they made playoffs (DeSmith injuring himself in the first 2 minutes of the first game against NYR was facepalm inducing). Domingue did ok, but the Rangers only beat Pittsburgh in that first round, which PIT was leading comfortably at one point, when Domingue had to start giving weak goals, as he is mainly an AHL goalie, maybe a second goalie in a team with a very strong first starting goalie. I still remember a few of the weak goals Domingue gave that totally reversed the momentum in the Rangers' favor.

As long as they never miss the playoffs by playing against the worst team in the league on game 82, needing just one point to make playoffs, winning then totally dropping the ball in the third period, getting massacred by the 22-23 edition of the Blackhawks, thus keeping them out of playoffs in a season where the supporting caste, not the core, was underperforming or injured. Not a very lucky team, you make some of your luck but sometimes the universe wants to balance things out a bit too harshly and you lose your 2 main goalies in a 1 week span at the end of the season/first game of playoffs.

At least they're now rid of awful defensively, awful offensively, "why are they even here" d-men like Ruhwedel and P-O, sorry P-O but your brother Mathieu is much better.

  31. Pittsburgh and Tampa are going in the wrong direction, contending wise. The Bolts will make the playoffs, but won't be going deep. The Pens, are borderline. This core has likely seen their better days.

  32. I like what Mark Lazerus said about the reinstatements: "We want people to learn from their mistakes, to grow from their mistakes, to teach others to learn from their mistakes. From what I've been told, Quenneville and Bowman have done so. And I'm glad. Genuinely. That matters. That doesn't mean they deserve reinstatement."
It would be neat if all 32 teams passed on the both of them to send a message, but we know that won't happen. It's just hard to forget that they were part of the management that let Aldrich go to a school and continue his horrible behavior.

  33. What is Pittsburgh afraid of? I've been saying for years they need to cut some players loose.

  34. Pittsburgh has to rebuild. But it looks like that won't happen unless Crosby decides to leave.

I think he should. He's given Pittsburgh everything he can at this point. Its whats best for him and the Pens. He can take a run at 1 last championship and they can start rebuilding Pittsburgh again. Maybe they can get the next Mario or Sidney if they can get a 1st overall pick.

  35. They should both be out of hockey for life. They looked the other way and ruined someone's life. Sad.
