A team of destiny, chevy is capable of conjuring such a team, wpg knows it, nhl knows it, even paul Maurice knows it, wished for it just moments after reaching the pinnacle of the sport of hockey…. I wouldn't be surprised if Laine lands in New Jersey or Carolina or maybe even Buffalo. I don't see Winnipeg going in on Liane because of his contract, defensive lapses, and inconsistent scoring. I also don't see him as an automatic top 6 player, due to his inconsistent play and defensive flaws. He would have to earn his minutes. Not something worth big bucks.
It would be fun to get Laine back, if they do that might as well get a top 4 Dman get to the playoffs get a rental 2nd line centre and go for it.
If not go young with the prospect see what happens but next year those prospects should be that much better at some point got to give Lamberd and Henola a real shot

Idk if a 3 team trade or if Perfetti+Mcgroarty to Columbus for Laine plus a Prospect like Jiricek,Mataychuk/1st. Or if we could get salary off Iafallo/Pionk. Is better for future people seem to forget Laine just turned 26 4yrs between 2 players had 40+ goals and prior to his leave was 55gp 52pts and 56gp 56pts ppg player with no real star center or Winger Jenner is a 2nd liner on a good team and Gaudreau has panned out horribly.
I definitely think now Wheelers gone and he won't be the man but can be power play/2ndary option. Lambert speaks finish maybe be a quiet role model to Barlow,Lambert,Chibrikov,Salmonsson ect now he's been through life.
I'm 100% more confident in a past 30+ goal scorer then banking on a 19 goal scorer to bump it up and Perfetti proved isn't a Center and wasn't trusted in all situations similar to Laine.
I Agree Mental health death of dad/player assistance he would be a more humble player now. Other places he is rumored Montreal he would be scrutinized alot more by media/fans. And make his mental health worse or a team where he is the #1 or 2 guy similar Marner in Toronto isn't good for Laine. Winnipeg actually makes most sense and might convince Ehlers stay with him. It would shelter Lambert having 2 vets.
Next year would be a retool of sorts.
The year after is when Jets will contend again. When iafallo,Pionks,Stanley,Appleton are out and replaced Heinola,Salmonsson,Barlow,Chibrikov.
