  1. 10 minutes of OT in the regular season and after that 10 minutes is up if no team scored in the 10 minutes then the game ends in a tie.

  2. You should be able to go back into your own zone to get a loose puck, but not possess and carry the puck back to your own zone.

  3. I think we should implement the 3-2-1 standing system that the PWHL has. If you win in regulation you get 3 points and the opposing team gets zero. If you win in overtime, you get 2 points, but your opponent gets one point. Also, if this goes to a shootout, the winner of the shootout still gets two points and the opposing team gets 1 point.

  4. Sure I know what a phone booth is. It's the old name for Oracle Park. (I'll show myself out.)

  5. If I had my way OT was go from 5 to 7 minutes of 3 on 3 followed by the shutout.
    Points would be
Two points for a regulation win
If a game goes to over time both teams still get a point.
But if goes to a shut out the loser gets 0 points and the winner only gets 1 point.
This would push teams to get the job done before going into a shutout.

  6. Love this rule. I think the NHL can learn from the NBA on the gray area since like you mentioned the rule is very similar and the NBA has had that rule for a long time. I don’t know if you need to asses a minor penalty. I think the faceoff in your defensive zone is sufficient.

  7. All OK. The puck cannot leave the Neutral Zone … gain possession, retreat up to YOUR Blue Line, turn around and attack.

  8. If you change the rules to stop recoils it'll only be a matter of time before the coaches figure out a new possession strategy… they always do.

Option 1) Get rid of the shootout and bring back ties. Teams intentionally kill time or wait for their one chance with possession knowing they'll get a crack at winning in the shootout still worst case scenario. If there's no shootout there's no motivation/reward for playing keep away for minutes on end, especially if you're a team that's great at picking up SOWs.

Option 2) If the shootout is kept, make a SOW worth less by adopting the 3 point system. You have to disincentivize to stop teams from strategizing this way. Period.
