I really want our team to do what the San Jose Sharks did this offseason next offseason. Firesale everyone except Vilardi, trade them for as many picks & prospects possible & get like a few solid veterans in next years FA to help the young guys out like they did with Jake Walman, Barclay Goodrow & Tyler Toffoli. The Sharks look like a very solid 5th or 6th seed next season. I wouldnt be surprised if they make the playoffs next season because they had a fantastic draft & offseason. Thats what our team should do because thats really how you build a winning team.
The NHL Network is targeted to a US audience, so they often promote American teams and players playing for American team. It does not surprise me Hellebuyck doesn't get the credit he deserves on that American focused network. The US does not have a sports network focused on hockey, as we have in Canada. The NHL Network fills that roll for them.
In response to the title of the Locked on Winnipeg Jets episode in question, begging on the future hasn't paid off yet; in fact, over the past 10 playoff games, the Jets have only allowed fewer than four goals in one of them: a 5–1 win over the Golden Knights during the first game of that April 2023 playoff series. If defense is supposed to help a team win a Stanley Cup, why on Earth isn't a greater emphasis on that team not being placed on an ability to effectively defend in the postseason? How is allowing four or more goals per playoff game anything but a disastrous approach to postseason play?
I am afraid Stanley is too big and too slow to compete with fast forwards. Is McGroarty leaving the Jets a sure thing? By the way, I heard rumors that the Wild are very keen on Laine to put more oil into the coming fiery matchups.
Only winnipeg fans and media sources view Helly as a top end guy. The rest of the league views him from afar – and they are probably more accurate in their assessment.
I'll say until I die that LB should've got a playoff game, huge mistake by Bowness IMO, I know, I know Helly was the 1 all reg season, but a reset or break could've pivotted the series lots of coaches have done this to huge success in the past Helly was getting smashed in that net every single night even the 1 win they had he let in 6.
The jets can’t be serious about winning when they have a right side d constructed the way it is. Also, the so called 3rd line can’t play more than the 2nd. Miles away from being a true contender
