Je voulais faire cet article pour souligner à quel point la famille Gaudreau signifie non seulement pour les fans de hockey professionnel, mais aussi pour la communauté de hockey qu’elle a favorisée au cours des dernières décennies dans le sud du New Jersey.
Guy Gaudreau, père de Johnny et Matthew, est responsable de nombreux souvenirs d’été pour moi-même et pour bien d’autres. Qu’il s’agisse du tournoi Gatorade, des camps d’été, des séances d’entraînement et de nombreux autres événements… Guy a dirigé de nombreux programmes de hockey pour les jeunes au fil des ans et a contribué à développer l’amour et la passion pour ce sport dans le sud du New Jersey.
Johnny et Matty ont toujours été impliqués dans la communauté, même après leur départ. Chaque été, ils participaient au tournoi Checking for Charity organisé dans le stade d’entraînement des Flyers. Johnny et Matty assistaient aux séances d’entraînement de Guy et travaillaient avec les enfants.
Si vous étiez un joueur de hockey dans la région à l’époque où Johnny grandissait, vous saviez qui il était. S’il était un rival, vous le respectiez. Si vous étiez plus jeune que lui, vous suiviez sa carrière avec diligence, espérant suivre ses traces. Il était le héros du hockey du sud du New Jersey.
Je ne sais pas vraiment dans quelle direction cet article est censé aller, mais je veux partager l’impact que cette famille a eu sans que Johnny n’ait jamais joué pour Philly.
Repose en paix à ces deux messieurs extraordinaires et nos condoléances à la famille qui est responsable des rêves de beaucoup.

Ugh. Seeing that rink is gut wrenching – that could be any kids local rink. A reminder that these two were just kids who loved playing hockey who grew up. They’re your kid, your neighbor, you nephew.
This is so unbelievably fucked it’s hard to fathom.

Guy was my learn to skate/play hockey coach at Hollydell back in the 90s. I feel absolutely heartbroken for him and his family. RIP Johnny and Matthew.
I’m from New Jersey. This is an awful day for our state and especially our hockey community, Johnny is easily the best player to come from here.
My heart goes out to their family. His poor 6 month old son and two year old daughter, his brothers wife who is expecting their 1st child, his mom,dad,sister, and all of his family. R.I.P. to a great player❤️

I ve been a hockey coach in New Jersey for 30 years. My travels took me down to to Holydell many times, when my sons were playing squirts they were God smacked over everything Johnny Hockey. They were looking at John’s high sweater hanging in the rafters when Guy asked them if they wanted to go into his office and he sat with them telling them stories and showing them photos documenting his boys journey. This even became a core memory for my boys that they still talk about. When I heard the news this morning about what happened to Guy’s two sons my heart sank. The kindness and love he showed my boys and my family that one day, I am sending ten fold kindness and love to his family tonight.
