    Larkin current, low-key all time is Lidstrom. Doesn’t have the point numbers of Howe or Yzerman, obviously, but was ELITE, redefined how the position was played, and became a benchmark for defensemen going forward. Lidstrom. GOAT.

    Best of all time is really tough. It’s hard to compare across eras, but Lidstrom and Yzerman are both very easy to argue for.

    I’m going to go against the grain and say Datsyuk for all time. He was so magical when the puck was on his stick, and always found a new way to beat a defender. Good dangles are still known as “Datsyukian”. To top it off, he was a master pickpocket and a dominant two way player.

    Easy to say current: Larkin. All-time is way more difficult IMO… Could say Yzerman or Howe, but also Fedorov since he was just amazing, he could do even defence at a superb level! Maybe that is why #91 for me!

    All time … going with Fedorov. Gordie was great no doubt; Mr hockey. And yzerman will always be our captain. But we never had a player with the speed, skill and style of Sergei.

    Howe, Larkin. No controversial takes from me, today, although I was tempted to try to make a devil’s advocate case for Hasek lol. But he’d have to get past at least 2-3 players not named Howe on the all time Wings list for that take to be even hypothetically reasonable.
