Meier-Hughes-Bratt
Tatar-Hischier-Mercer
Palais-Haula-Nosen
Cotter-Lazar-Bastian
Dillon-Hamilton
Hughes-Pesce
Siegenthaler-Nemec
Markström
Allen
Extras : Foote, Hatakka, Kovacevic

Since they won’t waive a useless fighter, they should waive Bastian. Foote is better. It won’t happen but it should. Hatakka would probably clear waivers also. Especially in the middle of the season.
John Fischer’s head just exploded.
first – you glossed over this in your post, but McD fits a need on this team that Foote and Hatskka don’t. He is an intimidating brute that we want to go head to head with Rempe. He also apparently is a great locker room guy who is constantly giving our skill guys pointers on how to stand up for themselves and play tougher.
second – It is much better for Foote and Hatakka’s development to play in Utica and keep getting games under their belt.
I do see the argument for keeping Foote as an extra, he is probably the next man up if there’s an injury with our forward group (unless we sign LaBanc) – but i don’t think we need to be so precious about him. He’s an injury-prone bottom 6 forward who has had trouble making the jump from AHL to NHL. Literally every team in the league has at least a handful of these prospects already in their system, i don’t think anyone is going to jump at the chance to pluck him off the waiver wire. Same with Hatakka.
No we shouldn’t get rid of MacDaddy.
Next question
I think Bastian is more likely to go if anyone. He has one year left on his deal and we wouldn’t have needed to sign MacDermid if he played that enforcer role that we thought he might.
Foote doesn’t currently fill a role in the roster other than a fill-in for injury. While I like him he hasn’t done enough for me to be concerned about losing him. Hata is a current work in progress so he gets the benefit of the doubt until he proves one way or the other.
McD fills a role, does it well and can be used as needed by the coaching staff. My only concern is that he’s not used every game and the ones where he isn’t on the ice is where you wish he was for a dirty play or two. I miss Mason Geertsen quite frankly because he was a better skater and I felt could be coached to get his game where it needed to be… But I’m not in the NHL as a scout/player development coach or otherwise.
We should also bring back cam and geersten right
Foote hasnt done anything to prove he has earned a roster spot. MacDermid serves basically one purpose and he isnt much money. If they are going to make a deep run you need someone like him.
Praise the gods we have MacDermid. Our guys were getting pushed around almost nightly. When we won Stanley Cups we had major beef in the lineup, and the difference was striking.
