Vancouuuuuver
I think Canucks will pull through at home, they got a hard working roster so just keep up that forecheck that makes their offence click they should be okay
They need to be MID on the next homestand. Tough ask from this team
I always assume my teams lose their games in hand and their opponents win them and that is the real picture
Last year at one point the Kings were road warriors that couldn't win at home. This year they are dominating at home and not great on the road. It seems pretty flukey to me. I think just by luck, you get a team or two every year that happens to win a lot more on the road, and they stick out in the league. But I don't know if there is any concrete reason why. This year it happens to be the Canucks.
If something isnt done this year then the canucks only long term solution is to wait out the soucy and oel deals and have Dpetty and Willander come in to fill the defense gaps.
Once the oel buy out and soucy contract is done and ran its course, the new defense prospects have some nhl experience, they should go all in.
The only way it will lead to a successful home stand as if they do not play the Arty again. Arty effects the team the same way a night of drinking does. They almost need a few days to recover from his play
Home stand? We're cooked 🥲
Thanks for the video! All the upcoming home games will give them a chance to right the ship before they clinch a playoff spot. Not having any back to back games should be helpful.
I agree with you, Canucks just needs to simplify their game at home. Hoping Demko coming back sometime during this homestand will give this team a bit of a confidence boost. Because I can tell they are not playing with any confidence when Silovs in net (and not like he has given this team any confidence with his play). Canucks needs to pick up another top 4 defenseman to solidify the blueline, if they can keep themselves above the playoff line and have a healthy roster by January, then they should be able to pull through and be a playoff team again.
I don't think there's a reality this season or next, even in dire circumstances where Tocc is in trouble. His relationship with Rutherford & Allvin is tight, he's been dealt a pretty Canucky hand in terms of injuries this year, was the Jack Adams last year and there's no feasible, better replacement.
Just 2 pts behind last years points. More drama though.
I feel our cursed teams are having a character building year, none of our points are coming easy but once things start clicking with even 5% more consistency we should see disproportionately positive outcomes. I see too many positives from both teams to count them out of playoff contention at this point, just cleaning up some minor bad habits and keeping a healthy roster should be enough to tip the scales for us both.
Canucks are doing surprisingly well with major players missing at times. How would thier standing be if Demko had Silovs starts. Some teams go through a bad year of injuries etc and it costs them the playoffs or the playoff run suffers from the unforseen events.
They will not fire Tocchet for awhile I believe because he is doing well with what's been a tough year in Injuries/missing players.
If they are all healthy come playoffs they could be a serious contender, but things have to line up.
Being good on the road versus home means your team is getting better imo. For younger teams that havent had much success. Thats what my Oilers were like 3-5 years
Hey u going to survivor series 😮
Alvin needs to book a hotel at home for the boys until they get a winning record.
If Demmer is back this home stand. We are good. He will win at home.
they have to win a few at home but its not the key to the season. Ridiculous
I think with how they were talking about demko he could start vs the blue jackets. That's a smart game to get his feet wet since they arnt the strongest, and if they start him then, then lankienen can alternate to take on the more difficult teams, and demko can start with easier opponents
With both Hronek and Miller out, I'm cutting them a bit of slack, I think. Obviously the rest of them should really step up, Pettersson especially, but I'll probably be happy if they can just stay afloat.
play Lankinen more on road in net, Silovs more at home in net?
team play up and down ice?
What about a video highlighting players that had career seasons last year and have since come down to earth this year?
Marcus Pettersson is one half of the worst defensive pairing for goals-against in the NHL this season. are people genuinely interested in him? or is it just an acceptance of the Penguins-Allvin pipeline that makes this make sense?
The stats look like our captain and alternates are carrying literally the rest of the team every single home game, which would explain why we're 3-5-3 at home so far.
Thank you.
I see san jose as a young canucks, both team ton of future potential.
At least when we're in the playoffs on the road we will win.
Jt miller was best ever deal in nhl history and ppl said it was bad
Just flew into Vancouver from Australia. Hoping I can see them get some wins!
The ability to keep players is Key for this season… between the off-season exodus and the lost players this season so far… it's 1 nail away from the coffin lid. Salary Cap issues began the exodus, now the lacking morale is taking it's toll in the locker room… EP40's new contract is a cancer! destroying the team from within. The team has dropped consistently since the All-Star break last season… coincidently the same week EP40 signed his contract.
Elias Pettersson is the only professional Swede to not be on the national team…. let that sink in! TEAM SWEDEN KNOWS HE SUCKS!
You could have had Necas. but you chose hype over skill. You could have kept Zadorov and not have defensive issues plaguing the season. Allvin kept all the worst players (hyped) and traded away your talent. DeSmith is proving to be better than Silovs. what a waste!
Good thing for the rest of the league that Vancouver and Toronto can't help but being the most toxic places to play in. Lose the hate and start supporting and this whole thing would look way different. Stay tuned for "passionate" responses below to prove this statement.
The Canucks from the 2020–21 season have over relied on Thatcher Demko to keep going. Although Demko has delivered at times, overuse of him during the 2021–22 season (during which he started over 60 games) meant major injury issues the following season during which he would end up missing (almost 3 months due to an injury series).
Last regular season, Demko started more games than Casey DeSmith (the latter currently with the Dallas Stars) and Arturs Šilovs combined but last postseason the first, second and third goalies started the least, second-most and most respective games.
This regular season Kevin Lankinen, between him and Šilovs, has started more games, with no other goalie under contract to the Canucks having played in even one such game. Other goalies under contract to the Canucks are Nikita Tolopilo, Ty Young and Jiří Patera. Which of Tolopilo, Young and Patera, with Šilovs having had this regular season ONE decent start and, in relief of Lankinen, a near-9-minute stint during which he had stopped every shot that he’d faced (Lankinen having been pulled in a 7-3 November home loss to the Oilers), will be called up, should Demko not, at some point before a pair of games on consecutive calendar days Pacific Time, in 2 weeks’ time against the Utah Hockey Club in Salt Lake City and Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena, will be called up (if any) remains TBD. Šilovs has, following last preseason, been mostly a sieve, and it’ll no doubt be crucial for the Canucks to not just earn standings points in either of any set of games scheduled for consecutive calendar days PT, particularly for as long as they’ve neither clinched a playoff spot nor our 10 points up on the fourth-place team in the Pacific Division.
I didn’t, going into this regular season, predict the Flames or Habs would see playoff action but did predict the other Canadian NHL teams would be under pressure to qualify for playoff action. Of the non-Flames non-Habs Canadian teams’ goalie tandems, I trust that of the Canucks the second-least,ahead only of the Sens’ Linus Ullmark and Anton Forsberg. Above the Lankinen-Šilovs tandem I trust the Oilers’ Stu Skinner-Cal Pickard one, followed by an effective tie between the Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck-Eric Comrie and Leafs’ Tony Stolarz-Joe Woll ones.
Some teams will nosedive, others will rise, 🐧
The goalie stats are certainly a reflection of how well the team plays on the road. If the team is playing well and not giving up quality chances, it certainly affects the goalie’s save percentage. It’s not necessarily so that the goalie is playing that much better on the road – he’s getting a lot better support from the rest of the team.
