  1. Word is, Matthews has Costochondral Separation – three or more ribs separated from the cartilage in the rib cage. Sounds like his injury needs surgery for it to heal properly. Expect him to be ineffective until this happens. If he gets it done now, there's a small chance that he could return just before the playoffs. That would make him unavailable for the 4 nations cup.

  2. Hell. You can just ask for another $100 M from taxpayer funded cbc just for having a "fairy" girly effeminate name. The robots in the CBC
wii just contnue to laugh at the rest of Canada and their efforts to make the other real men's teams viable.

  3. Should we actually be worried?

The Leafs win percentage with AM is .635… without him, it's .643. That last number is based on 75 games, almost a whole season of no Matthews, so we have seen enough.

When do we face that $13.25m cap hit per year to sell a few more jerseys and LOWER our chances of winning isn't actually good value?

  4. If he doesn’t skip the Nations Cup he’s good enough to play for the team that pays him! If it was me I’d skip the no name tournament n play for my team that pays him n needs him most!! Do the right thing n choose your team over anything else!!!

  5. I saw the hit he took and his reaction. That makes me think its the ribs for sure and that is not a quick heal. So dam sad.

  6. The $13 million-dollar man is on track to play less than 30 games. No heart and the antithesis of a leader. Truth be told, the Leafs play better without him. And that '70's porn moustache of his isn't doing him any favours…

  7. The entire tournament should be canceled. It makes no sense without Russia no matter how they present it. It has been 10 years since the last proper international hockey tournament, and nobody cares, very few even talking about it.

  8. Mathews needs to get the surgery now and stay off the ice until he is healed, this is bs that he plays then off for extended periods of time, they are doing well without him,

  9. No big deal. Ever since he arrived, the Leafs have always been a better team when Matthews is out of the lineup for any reason. MVP he is not.

  10. I have said it many times ……the Ottawa senators will win a Stanley cup before the Toronto maple leafs win one

  11. Leafs medical staff dropped the ball on this one. He has been injured since preseason ,maybe even last year.
Diagnose the injury properly and get the surgery… if that is what it takes to be 100 percent playoff time
He could have had a surgery months ago and been on his way to recovery. What is the point of playing 50 games in the regular season at 80 percent and
you are not ready playoff time ???

  12. I won't be panicking for multi-millionaire hockey players while tax and food prices go through the roof.

  13. He's suffering from a severe case of Gucci purses are on sale in Germany and he doesn't believe he should have to work for his money. Trade his azz Toronto and load your team up with the picks you'll get.
