@Sabres de Buffalo

1. They can’t seem to get a full 60 mins out of the team as a whole. They’re leaning hard on UPL to do a ton of defense and exhausting him quick— can’t block every shot, when you’re letting 30+ shots happen something’s going to get in eventually, and we can’t seem to keep the puck out of our zone. Early in the season we were matching the other teams in shots, the last few we have had half the attempts as our opponents. Every time Dahlin has to take a break we immediately play worse and take less chances and allow more shot attempts.

They did better against the Avalanche than I thought they would but I’m unsurprised by the loss. Like you said, the Avalanche are just a better team all-around and can last the whole game.

  2. WTF was Dahlin thinking with 8 seconds left when he was trying to block a pass instead of ATTACKING the Avs player on the tying goal ! Christ they teach you that in pee wee hockey! As Ive been saying for over 2 yrs now , this team needs a new D coach as Marty Wilford's system is TERRIBLE! Pegula shouldve let Ruff choose his own assistant coaches when he was hired !
Im praying that Pegula hires a new GM before the trade deadline as I dont trust Adams any more!

  3. Did you watch the play where Wedgewood was injured? Benson wasn’t “thrown” at all he was touched and fell on the goalie. Not his fault but the play should have been stopped when the puck was behind the goal. Anyway nice game!! I always love when we play buffalo😂

  4. Youre absolutely right Joe, to keep my sanity I point and laugh this year. Multiple friends have bet money against Sabres when they are winning by multiple goals and they won big. Including both Colorado games. #deadinside

  5. Thompson begged for accountability, yet his play in overtime was selfish and plain dumb. If your the last man back you can't just give up the puck

  6. I work at Ball arena,& I'm sure some fans were booing cuz they thought it was goalie interference & his fault Wedgewood got hurt. But most of us realized immediately it wasn't goalie interference-& we would lose that challenge. Bednar said so after the game. He was emotional,& pissed that they didn't blow it dead. I wouldn't have challenged it but he did so just to get the chance to vent his anger, let the crowd boo for awhile longer,& make those idiots rewatch their screw up. Not blowing that dead was beyond ridiculous. It's not remotely a scoring chance,& the ref stares at Wedgewood writhing in pain,& not getting up for 5 seconds. Also ya just hope they maybe find some technicality they will over turn the goal-since they know damn well it should've been blown dead. Happens all the time with position players-including in 1st period of this game when Dahlen went down. No reasonable Av fan thought that Sabre did anything wrong or that it really was goalie interference. But it is ludicrous they didn't stop it. Even if a goalie strap comes off-& he waves it at the ref-they immediately stop it-which they should.

As Bednar slaid what happens if instead of a wrap around-it ends in 100 mph slapshot while he's down. They changed this rule cuz of what happened to Matt Calvert a few yrs ago. But justice is served. That pissed the AVS off,& then the beyond ridiculous goal celebration into an open net-while our goalie is down added fuel to the fire. I've never disliked the Sabres or their fans. Why would I-opposite conference opponent who hasnt been good in almost 2 decades. But last night seemed to be a lot of obnoxious Sabre fans in the building,& after that over the top celebration…a lot of Sabre fans got exactly what they deserved in Denver last night. And so did that guy-cant remember his name. But take that L(OT) & choke on it bud.(not you-the guy who scored the 4th goal,& all the obnoxious Buffalo fans here last night). You will pay us back when the Bills slaughter the Broncos in WC.But we will just be thrilled to even be in the playoffs after we beat the KC JV Sunday.

  7. As some others have said Benson getting pushed into Wedgewood was not the problem, the problem was the ref staring at an obviously injured player while the puck goes into the corner and not blowing that play dead. Then topping it off by allowing the goal anyway. The challenge was just to make the refs watch their mistake.

  8. This was harder to watch than the 4-0 blown lead. They didn't seem to understand that just standing still and refusing to pressure the play in their D zone was going to lead to a goal, let alone 3. In the final 3:00 they didn't take half a second to see if there was an available play, they thought that icing the puck as soon as it touched their stick was a smart strategy despite not being able to pressure or win a face-off in their zone. They continued the losing strategy of icing the puck instead of running the clock and gave the Avs one opportunity after the next saying "here, we don't want to win, have another try". This proves to me that while we have talented players, we have too many who are incapable of making good decisions under pressure. As a pro athlete, talent is useless if it vanishes under pressure. Personally, I've seen enough and I'm calling it quits, this franchise has lost a lifetime fan. The last time Buffalo made the playoffs I was 21. Since then, I have had an 8 year relationship begin and end, numerous jobs, a near death experience and surgery, got my deadlift to 500lbs and ran a 50k, went back to school as an adult which lead to my dream career, found a new girlfriend who I'm now engaged to and bought a home with and am currently trying for our first kid. All this while buffalo is still scratching their heads on how to win hockey games. To all Sabres fans, it's time to take the beer goggles off and find a team that deserves your loyalty.

  9. Ooof hot take on the "that goal should have counted". I dont disagree, it was not goaltender interference. But that play should have been called dead, the goalie is visibly hurt in the net. If it happened to your goalie you'd be on here freaking out.

  10. Love your podcast, but as an audio guy, you HAVE to get a pop filter. Ever time you use a "b" or a "p", it clips the audio so hard. Just a bit of constructive criticism.

  11. They turn the puck over way to much for line changes. Toss and run for the bench. Like wth? Drop back to the defense and maintain possession. You can't give the puck to good teams and not expect them to come right back down the ice and run right to the net.

  12. Mattias Samuelson threw a player into UPL a few weeks ago and the goal counted. I blamed Samuelson not the opposing player.

  13. I give up on hope for this team. This is the only sport I care about. If the Sabre's don't figure it out. Getting rid of the B S Gotham app since I dropped cable and quitng following any sport!

  14. Thompson Cozens Dahleen Tuch Samuelson Luukonen all played poorly in this one. What do you do when your captains and highest paid players do this to your team?

  15. I enjoyed 57 mins of that game. We showed heart , gritt and sandpaper. We pushed back multiple times and didnt fold until 3 mins left in the game .

  16. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE JACK EICHLE GET A HAT TRICK AGAINST THIS "FARM TEAM" AND A BLOWOUT VICTORY. GOOO KNIGHTS !!!!!

  17. Bednar didn't expect to win the challenge, he said so himself. He wanted to waste the refs time and make them watch the replay over and over again and then have to tell the already pissed off crowd that it's no goal. The Avalanche weren't mad at Benson either. We had a problem with the ref not blowing the whistle during an injury, even though he practically had a lover's gaze locked on Wedgewood for at least 7 seconds after the injury.

  18. They are NOT finishing checks. You have to wear the other team down and they dont. The sabres are soft. Adams needs to make some trades.

  19. Wedge was hurt, the play shoulda been called dead when the puck was in the corner. Goal shouldn't have happened…. get stuffed

  20. Couldn't keep it out of the net for 6 seconds…6 damn seconds. Even so it wasn't surprising. This game was still entertaining. Oh well.

  21. Why did they pull Benson for the last 9 minutes? Is that really what you are wondering? The goal was fine, but they need to review that rule. And to be clear, there wasn't goalie interference but they should have called the play dead when Wedgewood was rolling on the ice. Injuries happen. That's fine too. The celly? Are yall proud of that goal? He certainly was pumped. Completely classless. They sat Benson so the Avs would play chippy but wouldn't have a target. That was for Benson's safety. Wouldn't be surprised if he has 2 healthy scratches next season…

  22. I think Lynn Dee Ruff has the worst job in the world trying to turn our sack of doo doo into Filet Mignon

  23. It wasn’t goaltender interference, but when a player is injured they blow it dead, no matter who has possession. They did it with Dahlin earlier in the game. How he got hurt shouldn’t matter, it’s a down player in a vulnerable position

  24. This is easy you don't need to do all this talking this is a defensive issue. We have no defense on this team.

  25. I have been a fan since 1970, however, I have come to the conclusion that they should just sell the team. Unless you are a type of person who enjoys being tortured, then there is a time when you have to finally give up on them.

  26. The thing is, none of these players learn from games! The coaches always say its a teaching moment, but for who? This team is the worst team in Sabres history in my opinion. To have talent like you do, and cannot hold a 3 goal lead in 95% of the games is sad to say the least. They had everything going their way too. With the Benson "interference" not overturning the goal, the coaches challenge working for once to overturn Avs first goal, to the Sabres actually going 2 for 2 on the PP. How do they not win when the NHL god's gave you every opportunity to win. Zucker is the only Veteran in many years that actually is playing like a veteran, he goes and gets goals playing in the punishing goal front and he makes them pay for it. No other veterans that came here did that.

  27. It’s not that Benson gets thrown around. In that situation, that defenseman lifts his foot and kicks Bensons leg out from under him. So it’s not as simple as, “Benson gets thrown around easily”. Any players would have taken that same spill if their legs were taken out.

  28. you are not bias for saying that the play was not goaltender interference, as there was no goaltender interference. Benson didn't do anything wrong before the puck went into the net. You are bias for not believing the play should not have been blown dead because of the injury when the puck went to the corner. If that part of the play was called right the goal would not have happened. Now the celly after the goal….that was low class, and it was cowardly to hide him for the final 10 minutes.

  29. I really appreciate your efforts! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?

  30. Bednar said the goaltender interference was not to really challenge the call but to make the ref look more closely at why when a goalie is clearly injured and potentially in a dangerous situation they don't stop the game. They even stopped the game earlier with the Rantennen hit even though it wasn't in a vulnerable situation. Player safety first, so no one had an issue. Wedgewood's injury was serious and the ref didn't stop the game. Terrible…

  31. This team is just forever trash!! They can never win more than 3 in a row, EVER. Then when they do win 3bin a row, they immediately gotta follow it up with a 2 to 3 game losing streak. This team has been the same team for the past 3 yrs. Just ABSOLUTELY TRASH!!!!

  32. shows your lack of understanding when you discuss the interference and how it should count…Nobody thought it was interference, not even bednar, it was reviewed out of spite. The issue is that the play should be whistled dead when the goalie is injured and the puck goes to the corner…
