1. They will never be able to truly rebuild with Tortorella as coach. He gets the most out of an average roster, so they will not be a Stanley Cup contender any time soon, but also won’t be getting any top 5 draft picks. It’s going to be a long decade.

  2. Fedotov was as bad as he could be. He was overreacting instead of using his size. Not saying he is going to save the franchise but the fact he has improved the way he has is a sight to behold.
Credit him for rebounding so strong with a bad team in front of him……# 39 is on the rise.
Damn straight I expected him to be playing well. He wants the puck and he damn knows what to do
with it. We have a shot at 3 first round picks. If they make the playoffs I'm good. If they tank out and get a high pick I'm good. They are playing decent hockey and they are fun to watch. You never know
what can happen. The best thing going on is this…..if the game heads to ot the flyers have a guy who
is a serious threat to score. Mitch is already a clutch player. Been a minute or two since I could say that.

  3. I would like to see them shop Brink, Forester, Frost, Farabee and Zamula while people think they still have value and potential. They are all too small to grind in the corners or just simply wont even bother trying and they get pushed around by the bigger teams. They show flashes of talent, but then vanish for 5 games before they get benched, come back strong, rinse and repeat. Some might say it may be giving up on them too early, but most have been in the league 2-3 years or more now and have not shown any signs of improvement, most have regressed actually. There is nothing there.

  4. As a diehard flyers fan, I like them competing night in night out and being a bubble team instead of losing just to draft high. I trust in Danny B and Jonesy at the helm to make the appropriate moves given the situation they are in with some bad contracts from the fletcher days still. Not to mention we have 6 draft picks in 2025 in what will be in the top 50. We hit on a couple of them with the young core we already have. I see this team in contention in 2026 given some dead money being gone and this core continuing to develop and the likes of Bonk, Jett, Barkey and hopefully a couple more young guys making the roster. Watch out for this kid named Noah Powell, he's my Longshot guess to be a stud in the NHL in 3-4 years.

  5. The Flyers went from the bottom of the the division to the middle in a very short time. There is no reason to believe they can't continue to climb. The Capitols are in first place and were picked to be the bottom third of the NHL by Las Vegas this season so you have to play the games.

  6. Flyers need a couple natural goal scorers. It doesn’t matter if that comes from the wing or center or defensemen. The amount of goal scoring chances this team has not capitalized on (which could have won them at least 4-5 more games easily) is absolutely silly. Loving the goaltending, the defense is starting to pick it up, and the passing is really starting to come along. Just need 2 goal scorers. Next year the cap space is a little more generous and 2026 even more so. I feel more players will want to come to Philly in the coming years. 🙌🏻

  7. I am a longtime fan, but these guys are team roller coaster. A few weeks ago, they had the third worst record in the league. Now they are a wild card. Enjoy the climb and hold on tight on the way down!

  8. I far prefer icing a competitive team and selling off veterans at the deadline than angling for a top draft pick. This team is not meant to dwell in the basement. It's meant to develop players either to be trade chips now or pieces on a contender several years down the line.

  9. If the Flyers make the playoffs, that's great. Experience for the young guys and thrill for the fans, who want it bad.
If the Flyers finish bottom-5 in the league, that's also great. We have a ton of stock in this upcoming draft, and boy are we gonna need to hit on some of the picks, especially at the center position.
The only unacceptable result in my eyes is to almost-make-but-just-barely-miss the playoffs. No playoff excitement/experience AND a much worse-off draft position.

  10. i just feel like the team that is here now can find the finish that we need to push us over the edge, and with the young guys a little playoff experience wouldnt hurt.

  11. It was like last year. The Torts effect is real – he gets the most out of his teams. Imagine if flyers had some better players, they’d be a powerhouse team.
Also, during the flyers improved play in the last two weeks, their special teams has been worse so they’re playing better 5-on-5. I would love to get a high draft pick but playoff hockey would be great experience for this team (or at least meaningful games).

  12. 6 picks n the 1st 2 rounds next season pending on what Edmonton n Colorado do .. we have a shot to get a really good player

  13. As a Flyers fan, I think the problem with an all-out tank is that they’re not bad enough to get that good of a draft pick. Realistically they’d be looking at maybe the top 10 at best, so why not try to make the playoffs and get our young guys some postseason experience? And I don’t think the Flyers need an insane amount of help. Konecny and Michkov are great wingers, and hopefully Luchanko can become that top-line center. Tippett, Frost, Farabee, Foerster, Poehling, etc. are all fairly young and have potential to be solid contributors. Maybe you look for another top-line forward to really put the offense over the top, but they probably think Luchanko can be that. The defense is solid now and with Bonk coming up it should get better (especially if Drysdale could stay healthy). In conclusion, I think selling just to finish mid-table again would be a mistake when we can use our veterans to get our young guys playoff experience while still getting similar pick locations and prospects. I also just like to watch winning hockey so I’m biased towards not selling.

  14. Root for wins or tanks? I thought we were doing the accidental tank since Fedotov couldn't stop a beach ball and Kolosov wasn't a whole lot better but they seemed to a have figured it out. Flyers are going to have some decisions to make when Errson is healthy again. Of course the backups playing decently could fall apart tomorrow and then the stealth tank is back on.

The Flyers fan in me that watches as many games as possible roots to see wins and is enjoying the Michkov show. Do I think playing middle of the road hockey and eeking into the playoffs on at the 2nd WC spot or barely missing the playoffs is good for the rebuild? Well since this is what they've been doing since 2012; I would have burned it all to the ground and started from scratch but the armchair GM in me has accepted that this is not going to be a tear it down to the studs rebuild process. So I'm just gonna enjoy the ride.

There's been some storylines to get excited about. TK is on another level. Sanheim is quietly having his best season as a Flyer. I'm impressed over the last couple of years that this coaching staff has turned Risto into a servicable NHL defenseman that they may be able to get some other franchise to over pay for because "he's big and he hits". Well now he's not a liability on the ice.

Worthy of mention. Emil Andre has been a breath of fresh air. Well liked rookie defenseman that got looks in seasons past; seems to be sticking since getting called up a few weeks ago and while by no means a finished product; is far more intriguing than what Jamie Drysdale has shown so far (I do love watching Drysdale skate, when he's healthy).

Denver Barkey having over a point per game season in the O.

Then there are Bjarnason and Zavragin in the goalie pipeline.

There's reasons to be optimistic but when I look at teams like Detroit and Buffalo and worry that this could haywire quickly. Just have to hope that a lot of things break the Flyers way (a team notoriously short on luck) and trust that this against the grain rebuild can work

  15. As a fan, it's not a bad position to be in. Of course every game I watch I am hoping they win, but if they fall off again and get a top 10 pick or something to go with the youth that won't be the worst thing. That said, in the last 10 years, we've had a can't-miss #2 OA and #5 OA – both centers – disintegrate before ever contributing. So I'm not sure a high pick is as important as fixing the development side of things. Teams like Tampa and Boston seem to do just fine drafting in the 20s every year. So I'd always rather see them continue to try to win

  16. Love the flyers coverage , appreciate you!

I personally think we need one more draft pick and to get rid of contracts before we start picking up big free agents and going for it

  17. Noah Cates currently had the best plus/minus on the team, not flashy points wise but he’s been the best two way forward IMO. Hoping to sneak in the wild card to get those young players some early playoff experience.

  18. Flyers are most likely not making the playoffs this year but with Michkov,Konecny,Ersson, and a ton of eye-opening prospects such as guys like Emil Andrae makes me have a lot of hype for this team in the next 1-2 years

  19. as a devils fan I don't want them to either make the playoffs or get a good pick

  20. I’m never going to root for the Flyers to lose. I think making the playoffs would be good because it would get guys like Michkov a taste of the playoffs & the experience would be good for them. N the other hand, we desperately need a 1C so if they miss the playoffs & end up with a top 10 pick I won’t be too upset. Basically it’s a win-win.

  21. Coots may never meet his previous offensive highs but part of his value has always been his significant defensive contributions. He may never be the most popular Flyer to wear the C but still is an important piece.

  22. The most important point which you didn't really touch on when it comes to tank or continue to play is the amount of draft picks that the Flyers have next year. They currently have 3 first and 3 second round picks in the 2025 draft. It would make sense to just continue playing and maybe make a smart deadline deal and wait until draft day to move or stand pat. They could use a good top six centers, but also have Luch, Bark and Bonk all killing it in the CHL. There is definitely no reason to panic or change tack. All Flyers nation should just take a deep breath and enjoy the beginning of the Mich era and know that things are looking up and not expect much more than good hockey right now.

  23. I want us to win. Will this team win a cup? No way. But I do think the most important thing is for some of these guys to develop and I think winning hockey and maybe even a taste of the playoffs could help. Guys like Farabee, Frost, Foerster, Tippet, and of course, Michkov, will all really benefit from a late season playoff push. I think with our young prospects, current young players on the NHL roster, and maybe a big signing/trade or 2 down the road, the Flyers will be set up to win soon without needing another top 5 pick.

  24. flyers need keep this run going. It’s healthy for our young guys like michkov drysdale york etc.. but i do think this trade deadline will be huge. getting rid of risto while he still has interest from teams needs to happen, getting a good return for frost will also be important.

  25. Definitely want them to stay in the hunt, tanking doesn't work, they have 3 first round picks 6 in the top 50, prospects that can all be packaged for a young center not on the team/pipeline or they hold and draft players and continue to develop!

  26. 20% of the Swedish rooster are underachievers at the moment. If they don't pick up their game Sweden will end up last. 😢
Maby Garpenlöv know more then everybody else… Let's hope so.

  27. The flyers currently have 3 (one conditional) first round picks and 3 second rounds picks in the 2025 draft. If we really feel like there is a guy we want I think we could move up with our current assets. I want the young guys to get used to winning hockey early!

  28. Long time fan who has been turned off by the last 12 years of incompetence, but hope they are turning the corner. Still a very long way to go. Their top six is weak, especially with no no 1 center. There D is ok, but need to develop – hopefully Drysdale can stay healthy and improve, but I have my doubts. News for bonk to come in and develop and hit on their three first round picks. They need to turn this franchise around ala Washington’s success vs getting in the playoffs for one season

  29. At the start of the season, I just wanted them to have competetive losses. Good fights to bring games close and Michkov gets plenty of points while staying a bottom feeder to allow them to get a top 5 pick. At this point, I'm just enjoying the ride and where they end up, they end up. They do need better center depth, but with how deep this draft is supposed to be with tallent and the amount of draft capital, it is very likely they hit on more than a few of those picks in the top 60. If so then they can really build something that lasts. Especially when the money comes off the books and they can FINALLY go after free agents.

  30. The Flyers need more high-end talent. I think it would be more beneficial to have another high-end pick as opposed to a playoff exit in the first round. They need a stud center.

  31. Hello. I'm told the style of play that Coach Tortorella has them playing gets them worn out over 82 games, which led to the 8 game losing streak at the end of last season. This year they have a break for 2 weeks in February for the 4 Nations tournament. That break could very well be what they need to prevent another late season collapse.

  32. Two of my customers were on the Stanley Cup winning teams and another was on the team from the 90's. They all express that they would rather the Flyers upgrade their talent pool than waste time being mediocre.

  33. I 100% will always be on the bangwagon that they should bottom out this year. They have a crap ton of picks in the first two rounds and will likely end up with 1 or 2 more before the draft. That being said they really need to find that #1C star prospect and get some other really good prospects across the board.

  34. Thank you for the video Shannon – top quality as always, as painful as it has been to watch my Flyers for the last few seasons, I still believe it's best for young teams to not just tank and phone each game in, but to go out there each night and give it all, must mean so much more for the development of the younger players on the roster – building a culture of losing just to gain a slightly higher draft each year surely has an impact on those younger players
Watching us almost secure a playoff spot but missing narrowly , must have done so much to build a winning culture within that locker room , and as long as Torts is there, I look forward to that continuing until they are finally ready to take the next step – whenever that will be
    Patience is key here
