As a Canucks fan, I think Calgary could make a Pettersson or Miller trade work for both sides. I don’t know if the Canucks would want Kadri at his age. We’d be looking for a young potential top 2 centre, a top 4 D and maybe a prospect, but definitely the first 2. If I were Calgary, I’d go for Pettersson. Much younger, 100 point player and a potential Selke winner down the road. You’re not rebuilding or retooling with a guy over 30. I’d prefer to keep Petey, but if I were the Flames, he’s the guy that could lead your offense and help your PK for years down the road with the right coach. Miller does better with a tough coach. Pettersson does better with a motivator. Whatever you have over there will tell you which one to go for.
Kadri has been a minus player for a while and his line mates have been plus players at the same time. He is a giveaway machine and lacks effort to retrieve any pucks most shifts. He can score but it comes at a high cost. He takes unnecessary risks to score. This high risk/low success is used to pad his stats while at the same time tanking the team game due to bad turnovers.
I will say however that he has improved slightly in the past 10 games or so and the eye test would suggest he has been a positive for the team in that stretch. Perhaps this improvement in his play is coming at the right time.

Nuck fan coming in peace. I'm indifferent to Pettersson. He's underperformed recently but is magical with Kuz. Not interested in Kadri. Trade would start with Andersson plus another mid roster player.

Pettersson is not a “100 point player”. In 6 years he only hit 100 points once. Next highest was 89. This year his pace is a career low. He’s maybe a “point a game” player. I think that’s a bit of a difference.

No. He makes just under a million less than McBaby does and tends to coast during the most crucial moments when ppl say mean things to him. He's not built to withstand the heat of the NHL. He's a textbook example of what we know as a 'glass cannon' soft mentally, and physically, too. He's a major liability who gets paid WAY too much.
He'll get moved to another team eventually, where he'll 'quiet quit' that team before being bought out and heading back to Sweden.

Kadri is aging really well. I don't think it would be that hard to move the contract. In a way he has even improved as he has gotten wiser and picks his moments to be spicy better than he used to. Skill-wise, he hasn't lost a step.

Kadri is producing close enough to how a $7 million dollar player should be and seems like a good fit in VAN – Pettersson is not producing what an $11.6m player should be, but has the upside and scoring touch we need. Would like to see this trade happen, but in my eyes it's got to be a straight across Hockey trade.

Ok. so Connie has got to know that this team at present will not get out of 1st round in playoffs if they make it that far. So that point is mute, if you want to truly rebuild. The other point, Kadri for Pederson? why not , it's a $4.5M diff. & your gaining probably 7 years play time. I might even through in a 3rd rounder but no more. I mean Elias hasn't really played that great either.
As a Canucks fan, can confirm there is not a chance in Hell Kadri + Picks alone will be enough. We will not be trading our superstar centreman to a division rival for cheap. If Rasmus is not in the conversation, it's essentially a non-starter.
