1. IMO The Rangers were hard changing to overcompensate for Igor being out. You can see after that 3-1 goal scored, The Stars turned it up and the Rangers couldn't keep up.

  2. Not calling Jake terrible, just not calling him great either. Bad game or not, he still looked better than a lot of other goalies in the league, especially on their bad nights. Jake let’s in A LOT of first shots, and that irritates the hell out of me.

  3. I think Otter is an above avg goal tender but not sure he can get you a cup without some really good defense in front of him. But that is almost every goalie in the league with the exception of a few

  4. Once again gotta call a scrub a scrub. Otter was again NOT elite…but only now he gets paid like he is. His biggest flaw, and it's a huge one for a goal tender, is his puck tracking or more precisely his lack there of. He gets attention and praise for his size and physical attributes but people fail to see he struggles tracking pucks so he ends up either oblivious to it or late getting in position that's what's behind the majority of those soft goals he allows. Deflections and redirections are just bad luck and happen to the best of them. He pitched a shut out his first game of the year I believe and hasn't sniffed one since. He's a good goalie but he's nowhere near elite.

  5. Def need to talk about Oettingers inconsistency a lot more Joey. Not saying he's Georgiev, far from it I think BUT the inconsistency with him lately is getting extremely concerning, gets what a .950 or .960 SV PCT against Utah then gets a .840 SV PCT against the Rangers (still a dangerous team but struggling in their division) and the soft goals he's letting in are inexcusable. If you're making 8.25 mil a year you NEED to be making those saves on soft goals. I'll give him a pass on the breakaway goal and the PP goal from the rangers since those were really good shots but the Stars should have been up after the 1st and should have won in regulation if not for Oettingers ABYSMAL performance. Don't want to hear the weak excuse that because Otter carried this team for the first 10 games of the season that he's allowed to have shitty games like this every once in a while, that's a weak BS cop out and I disagree with it 100%. Otter needs to figure his stuff out.

  6. Sam Nesler was reporting that Caponianco is injured and Petrovic was under concussion protocol. Almost has to be Bischel

  7. Otters the best goalie weve had since belfour. Which goal was bad? The laser beam shot that beat him? The breakaway? The two tips? Come on guys get with the program.

  8. Trying again bc other comment didn't show up. I think it was user error tho.

Nhl's website has an interesting article from December 12 about goalie save percentages trending down in recent years. They interviewed Vasilevskiy (sp) abt it & basically he said players aren't really taking the distance shots that are easy for goalies to see & stop. Everyone's being taught to take higher percentage shots so overall goalie save percentage is going down because they're not getting as many as the easy ones, which teams are seeing as wasted trips.

I think Otter's stats are reflected in that. And he's said he likes to be busy. It does seem like he struggles more in games where he's seeing fewer shots. It also seems like he presses some when the offense isn't scoring – being too agressive to be perfect or whatever. I think he'll be fine now that DeSmith is healthy again and 'hopefully' he'll be getting more run support. It seemed like it was when the run support stopped in the playoffs last year that his numbers got worse.

Disclaimer: I'm a huge Otter fan so feel free to ignore my biased opinions! 😂

Also – what do you guys think about solutions to Stankhoven's point drought? Dunno if he has a 2 way contract & maybe sending him down to work on stuff would be a disaster, but I feel for him. He clearly gives it his all everytime out there.

  9. Can’t tell about last night and not talk about Sam Steel doing all the work in the corner to get the assist on the goal for Harley. That goal doesn’t happen in Sam doesn’t hustle down there and just take over their zone. Great hustle! Terrible start. Great finish. They didn’t give up. Jamie is tired of messing around. My boy was on another level again last night. Benn started it, and finished it! Great game!

  10. 27:40
Totally agree. I’ve noticed that multiple times also. For being such a big guy, he plays smaller the closer the play gets to him. Like a turtle hiding for safety. lol. Wish he’d just stand taller. Might take away those corners that have been giving him trouble. He’s got down low sewn up. It’s elevated ones. Not the tipped ones, or the ones he didn’t see. Just the ones he saw but couldn’t prevent from being in a poor position. Idk. I’m not a goalie. Purely a fan. Going on 30+ years as a Stars fan. I know my 2 cents mean nothing.

  11. Thanks Joey! Great energy today and a great breakdown! Still on the fence with your singing 😂 Love that the Stars ⭐️ came out with a big Win! Yahoo! ❤Benn!
