I’m with Pinder stay the course, trade Ras if the return is formidable. Even if the draft is a lottery ticket. He’s going to be on most teams target list and will probably over pay. The most basic fan knows the flames are not a competing team regardless of wolf 🐺…. Get assets for the future.
Frank is such a Flame pessimist. Think we proved him wrong with any of his projections. Why are fans even listening to this guy
flames fans need to give their head a shake. this team isn’t that great outside of wolf. team needs to be better than just a bubble playoff team. gotta trade ras and build a higher potential team. ras is also overrated and doesn’t need 8 more years when turning 30 already. he’s a nice 3/4 but not someone to give a bad contract and build around
I trust Conroy. He's a smart GM. Yes we have a lot of cap space, but if it were Brad Treliving, he would cap out, paying top dollar to players past their primes.

although generally I think Pinder is a moron, he's right here. play the kids and draft more, build the organization from the bottom to the top. Wolf is the piece you build around for a decade. Let this season play out.
Pinder is right. Stay the course, trade Rasmus, Kadri, Coleman and Backlund within the next two years and bottom the fuck out. It's time ..
Get into the playoffs. Play the rookies, give them some experience, a taste. See which ones step up during the training season. Trade next season.
This was great. 100% agree with Frank! Flames are no longer rebuilding. They need a retool. Go get Lafrenière and/or Cozens, keep Rasmus. Go Flames!

I think they’re both right. Flames are in such a weird spot that I’m a bit apprehensive to give up draft picks and prospects for someone but on the flip side if you have the opportunity to get someone like Cozens then I say you gotta try and go for it
Pinder is right. They can’t bottom out? They are 5 points out of a top 10 pick, with a goalie keeping them afloat.
However, if you can get Cozens or some other young C then that’s okay to trade a premium asset.
We want to stay mediocre because the current players might be mad? Who cares? We determined they weren’t good enough to win so we decided to retool. Despite our best attempts I would add, we tried to sign all those guys!

Buffalo trade works if you have a three way trade happening. Calgary gets cousins Buffalo get play from team c and team c get picks from Calgary
I dont get the team tank thought process. Has it worked out for Montreal? Buffalo? How about Ottawa? Rangers? How about up north in Edmonton? How many first round picks, and generational talents did they go through before they were a goal short of winning the cup?
The team should try and be competitive every single year. Tanking just makes rooting for the team miserable. They are more likely to win a cup by sneaking in than tanking for the next 10 years trying to score a generational player.
BUILDING A TEAM THROUGH TRADES AND FREE AGENCY IS A GOOD IDEA IN PRINCIPLE. UNTIL YOU REALIZE THE FLAMES ARE NOT A DESTINATION MARKET FOR FREE AGENTS. EVERYONE WE SIGN WE NEED TO OVERPAY TO COME, WHICH HURTS OUR POTENTIAL TO CONTEND. SAME W TRADES, PPL DONT WANT TO COME HERE. THATS WHY WE GOTTA DUMPSTER DIVE FOR HIDDEN OR SEMI BROKEN GEMS TO COME HERE IN TRADE, INSTEAD OF AMAZING PROSPECTS OR YOUNG STUDS THAT NEVER ACTUALLY HIT THE MARKET. FRANK CAN SAY TEAMS DONT BUILD A CORE MAINLY THROUGH DRAFT PICKS, BUT THE FLAMES ACTUALLY DRAFT WELL AND WE CANT ATTRACT THE GUYS WE NEED THROUGH TRADES OR FREE AGENCY TO ACTUALLY FOLLOW HIS STRATEGY EFFECTIVELY. FLAMES NEED TO BE THE BEST DRAFT / DEVELOP TEAM IN THE LEAGUE TO HAVE A CHANCE. TRADING FOR A COZENS LEVEL PLAYER WONT PUSH US OVER THE EDGE. PINDER IS RIGHT!
Wolf has the ability to play 60+games and I truly believe he will be a vezina winner. We have a goalie in his prime right now that clearly has what it takes to win, we should be building around him right now, kipper took a team that probably didn’t deserve to be in the final to within one game of the Stanley cup. Wolf has that ability too.

Cozens is an ideal example, but it's not happening. The only logical 23 and under center that might be available is Zegras. He is the only one who's value and future production is in question enough to be moved.
