Simple New game plan last 15 seconds of the game just hug the other team on the ice. Penalties for holding but who cares when no one can play the puck the game doesn’t stop till the buzzer goes.
They star players don’t dive so they don’t “draw” penalties. Simple.
Stop always blaming the Refs, it's a fast game in the moment no one wants to get penalties, or missed penalties, if this were a fourth liner this wouldn't even be in the media. These reporters are pathetic. Not an Oiler fan but kudos to Drais to call a spade a spade. McDavid is no angel either.

Really can’t speak for other top players but McDavid absolutely gets held, slashed, late hit and jersey tugged so much it’s not even funny. The refs know they would call at least three or four every game. Then put the top PP out there……The NHL can’t have that, it’s not fair to the smaller US markets losing to Canadian teams.
It's not like it was a quick altercation. Garlund was interfering and holding him down long enough for all refs to know wtf was going on. The refs should get a 3 game suspension too for the blatant no call(s). Interference, holding, unsportsmanlike, take your pick. If the refs actually called something on Garlund, which they all had more then enough time to, things wouldn't have gotten out of hand.
Just like the players after good and bad games, Refs should be held accountable too.
