Holy shit this is a wildcard team. Their not winning a cup with without him. Did u not watch this team the last 2 seasons. This move is a domino to set up another 7 year window. I'm good with it. And looking forward to c how good Necas can be and also he's versatile and can be an answer at 2c come playoff time

You dont trade the moose. They had until july 1st to get a deal done. As an avs fan i would rather have one more cup run with moose ,mack, and makar and risk him walking. Sakic will always be my captain but the byram, zadorov, and now Rants deals make no sense to me.

I am 100% behind Shaggy. I honestly believe that Mikko was possibly the cancer in the room. The AVS #1 issue is TOP HEAVY CAP MANAGEMENT. This is a good move for the franchise moving forward.
Necas is currently 12th in scoring this year – only 8 points behind Mikko….younger, signed for another year…I'd say that's a solid win for the AVS folks. Plus, they get Chris fucking Drury's nephew Jack…..lest we forget that Drury's WIN in Colorado.

Honestly I’ve loved mikko but his game has been sluggish as of late. I think he’s been looking lazy on the puck the last few years. I think it’s a good return in necas and I feel as though another move is coming.

Mikko is NOT a 14 mil player. Marty's game actually fits this team. I'm pretty sure Mikko won't have the same success in Carolina. He'll play well, but not to the level he was at in Colorado.

Is the Avs owner broke or something? Lose a franchise type player over $1.5M? Couldn't make it up anywhere else? Just makes no sense.
Smart move by the Avs getting rid of Rantanen now. He's about to cost too much money and it's better to get some guys for him before he walks away and the Avs get nothing. Let some other team with money give him his payday.

A few points.
1. Some teams have a lot of their team's cap space tied up in few players. They generally do well in the regular season, but not as well in the playoffs. A more complete roster seems to do better in the post season.
2. Necas is very fast and highly skilled. He hasn't had Rantanen numbers but I'll guess Rantanen without MacKinnon will slow down and Necas with MacKinnon will pick up the scoring pace. Necas is far better defensively than Rantanen, so even if his points end up lower the team's defense is better so that might balance anyway.
3. Drury solidifies the bottom six with a hard working player who is really good on faceoffs.
4. I think the Avs now have some cap space, so could be planning on another move before the deadline.
People need to stop looking at this as a 1 for 1 trade. It just isn't. Wedgewood and Blackwood were. There's other pieces to this that's setting up something else. It just has that smell. If it doesn't happen by the deadline, they'll look like fools and heads should roll.
Now they're a 1/2 line team instead of a 1 line team. Missing the playoffs seems likely now.

I think teams are overvaluing Necas. Because of the ridiculous hot start he had. But if you look at underlining numbers he was a sell sky high
