It will be interesting to see what Rantanen does without MacKinnon and Makar. He wants Draisaitl money but Draisaitl does what he does with Arvidsson and Podkolzin on his line. Further, he is a winger and not a center.

Necas and drury or the rumored kotkaniemi is no even close. they will never get a player like rantanen back. so what if makar wants 14 mil or over 12.6 that mackinnon makes? trade him too? pay the man, rantanen is a killer in the regular season and playoffs. bad decision in my book.

I'm not sure it was salary. Like, Mikko is very good and I think the Avs are willing to pay in the 13-14 range, even with MacKinnon on 12.6. Like, the Oilers aren't struggling with McDavid and Leon. My guess is that Mikko wanted north of 14, and more importantly wanted a lot of protections. A d I think the Avs want the trade flexibility.
