Maybe as a back up
Skins and Picks are always derided by the hockey world as sub-par, getting a bit of respect now cos of Oil's playoff performances. Will they become high demand? I think we hold onto them unless they sky-rocket.
Hopefully not much, because he's a backup on at least 27 of the 32 teams, and that's being generous.

You loose Stu Skinner for the reasons you’re stating then loose McDavid , Draisaitl, Zack Hyman etc. This is pure ignorance and impatience with a very young Goalie!

I think Skinner is a 4.5 to 5.5 million dollar goalie with how he is playing, any more is way too much, and any less he most likely doesn’t accept. Maybe he will take a hometown discount but I can’t say for sure.
more than Thompson is laughable
Skinner's next contract will get hit by one big factor and that is he is insanely inconsistent he just now hit 900 save percentage this year, last year in the playoffs he was either unreal or absolute garbage and that will hurt his overall value, not to mention if Edmonton acquires a goalie this deadline to step in when Skinner struggles then no way he touches 7, 8 even 6 could be a stretch especially if the Oilers get a goalie who then outperforms Skinner
Skinner is not worth swayman money……. Not even close. I like skinner as a back up goalie but he is no starter.

Skinner is max 4 million a year. His number are average while being behind one of the best defensive teams over the last two years. This guy is slow and has poor side to side movement and gets bailed out by the defense a lot.
I hope Skinner goes team friendly. If we win the cup this year I don't have a problem with 6 mill a year long term. If he comes up short then I hope he signs 4.5 mill for 8 years
So sick of the Skinner fan boys. He is a lousy goalie being dragged along by a great team. This dud will never win a cup.
It's biased pundits like this who pump up players salaries higher than they should be. Just like Stauffer did for Darnell Nurse. I like the Oilers, I like Nurse, I like Skinner, but all players should be paid for the performance they provide relative to their peers. These guys acknowledge that Thompson's numbers are better, and always have been, yet they suggest that Skinner should be paid more because he's more "proven in the playoffs". Well then shouldn't he be paid like Adin Hill, who is even more proven in the playoffs having won the cup AND is on Team Canada for the 4-Nations? IMHO, Skinner's next contract should be about the same as Blackwood and no more than Thompson.

Look at Stu’s save percentage. He’s a 4 miller at best.
Skinners 0.902 this year and 0.905 career. Thompson is over 0.925 this year and 0.915 career.

Hes been pulled and bailed out in MULTIPLE playoff games. Nuff said . Hes a great backup but not a full blown 5+ mill starter yet. Maybe one day
