o, I was sitting in my grandma’s basement wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs onesie and a Minnesota Wild foam finger I stole from a kid at the state fair when I watched this game, and let me tell you, I screamed so loud my neighbor’s cat started hissing like it was auditioning for The Exorcist. 🐱👹 Auston Matthews was out here scoring goals so filthy I thought my mom was gonna wash my mouth out with soap, and Kirill Kaprizov was out here skating circles around the Leafs like my ex around my feelings. 😳💔 Bro, I’d let Matthews step on my Lego Death Star if it means he’d sign my forehead with a Sharpie. 🖊⭐ Also, can we talk about how Kaprizov’s celly was giving the same energy as me when I find a $5 bill in my pocket? 💸😭 Honestly, this game had me feeling things I haven’t felt since I accidentally walked in on my roommate doing… well, let’s not talk about that. 🙈🚪
But real talk, the Leafs were out here playing like they had a personal vendetta against my therapist’s bank account, and I’m not even mad about it. 🏦💔 Can we get a 10-part HBO documentary on this game? The leafs need a culture. This is just players that want to get a max contract when they expire. They are not mentally ready to even be ready to play a regular season. They can’t start on time. Players make no look passing like they think they are the best team in the league. This team is a joke for a reason. They are not playing simple Hockey. Last minute of the game against the Wild.no dump and chase or not even a hard shot from the point. I not putting this on the coach because we had that same story every time. This is a roster that just wants to get paid. There’s no identity. The panthers and Vages have planted their winning culture and identity. They are hard on pucks they make players make mistakes by having a relentless forechecking and when they don’t have they play defense even if it’s a forward. Defense wins championships. Skill isn’t good enough to win the cup. It never will be. It’s winning those one on one battles and playing the game behind the opponents net. Nothing has to be nice and there are too many nice guys on the leafs. We’re going to see the same outcome in the playoffs not because of the roster but because they are afraid to lose.
