No worries, Rantanen will produce – eventually. Plenty of good scoring opportunities already, bit more luck and we would be celebrating him…
I want rod to get a cup so bad but like at what point is this 100% on him? We have had great rosters and just can’t do anything with them! We have more shorthanded goals in 2025 than powerplay goals. Goalie play is still shaky and our powerplay is awful which are the 2 reasons we lost to the rangers last year and it hasn’t been addressed at all!!
Rantanen needs a primary LW. Blake is a decent secondary option for the 2nd line but he isn't helping Aho or Rants. Our LW top 6 depth needs attention.

I've been trying to not worry about the fact Mikko Rantanen is playing pedestrian hockey, trying to be more patient and I keep telling myself to wait until a week or so into post-Four Nations tournament games. If we haven't seen it start to happen by then, I have a bad feeling.
If he wants 14M/year he damn well be a dominant force out there.

This YEARS OLD system does not account for the current roster period. Canes ares till running a system that was designed for less than high skill offensive players. Its a system that is literally "throw it at the net and hope for the best". Such a system does not seek to create opportunities for the high skill and more developed players the Canes now have like Moose, AHO, Svech, and Jarvis. It was designed to squeeze goals out of guys like J. Staal, Rask, Martinook, ect. High skill players need time and space to be creative and this system does not provide that for them – which explains all the breakaway goals and lack of 5v5 goals. Its also a system that wears out players over the course of the season and come playoff time they are worn out and/or beat up. Plus its a very predictable system that does the same things night after night and smart teams can prepare themselves for.
Its good enough to get us in the playoff consistently but not good enough to reliably beat the top teams during the season or the same sort of teams that can get beyond the first or second round. Its not gonna win us the cup I'm afraid.
I don't believe the problem is the roster anymore with this team – it falls squarely on coaching staff. We are really lacking in offensive coaching and it shows heavily in games like last night. Even Roddy can't give solid answers on what can actually be done going forward to change this and its been this way for awhile. This team doesn't need a new head coach but the head coach needs the help of a true offensive coaching wizard to bring in experience and ideas on how to capitalize on the tools this team now has.
Daniels ain't that guy – I aint saying fire him but change his role maybe to something like young player development and bring in someone else. Frankly he would be excellent as head coach of the wolves prepping players to get to the big show.
