  1. Not enough is made of how terrible of a general manager Chuck Fletcher was.
He would constantly blow draft picks on bad trades, and he put the anchors of Parise/Suter on the team, and allowed them to run the team like their personal country club until he was finally fired.
So much of Bill Guerin's tenure has just been fixing Fletcher's mistakes

  2. I think Guerin is by far the best GM the team has had yet. And I loved it when Boudreau was coach. I think he was the best coach the team has had. And there have been some great players that have been through the team too. I just wish they could make a push in the playoffs.

  3. This franchise has had a lot of good players, but only a couple great players. They’ve also had some great regular seasons, but only a couple good post seasons, none of which have resulted in a cup finals appearance. They’re very much a ‘mid’ team, but they are very loved in Minnesota, and the future looks bright.

    And Norm Green still sucks

  4. Good not great, but the world of hockey shall feel our wrath starting this off season when we sign brock boeser and mikko rantanen! And begin our decade of terror!!! I hope

  5. Definitely not ur fault, we had a garbage gm giving up picks for ok players and didnt draft for poop. We have a real gm now and maybe the best eye for talent in judd bracket with bill guerin.

  6. Backstrom was so good unfortunate injury, dubnyk was insane for 2.5yrs. I loved rolo. Wanted him to get that cup in edmonton in 2006 so bad

  7. Im not too crazy bout this season cause of all the injuries, but this off season into next yr i expect the wild to reign terror. If not then ill be pissed.

  8. Whomever designed the stadium series jersey that you used on the thumbnail needs to be fired and have the their crayons taken away FOREVER!!!

  9. No team in Minnesota in any major sports league (NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB) will ever win a championship again. The curse will NEVER be broken.

  10. They have a couple bona fide studs in Kaprizov and Faber along with guys like Boldy, Rossi, and Eriksson Ek proving themselves. If Billy G is able to keep those guys in town without absolutely breaking the bank, those players continue trending upward, and the Wild sign/draft a few key pieces the Wild could be a legitimate contender. Or it could just as easily all fall apart with contract/injury/performance issues etc. The last time the Wild swung for the fences on the Parise and Suter contracts it burned them

  11. As a Minnesota fan, this season will be considered good if we can make it to the second round and look competitive doing so. Not like when we beat the Avs in 7 then got swept by the Blackhawks.

  12. As an Avs fan, I'm happy if the Mild continue to struggle in the playoffs. To me, they're what the Leafs are to eastern teams' fans. 🤣

  13. The lack of success (especially in the playoffs) can be tied to #1 – the GM's and their foolish moves (Billy included for so many reasons, currently him treating Rossi like crap). #2 – Terrible Captains after Jaq as Mikko was more worried about his game than the teams and as much as I love Spurgeon, he is a quiet as a mouse and looks like he is still 15. I agree that they will be a one and done as Hynes can't figure out that Rossi is your #1C on this team, deserves to be on the PP1 which he rarely is, is tied for 2nd on the team with points given the lack of opportunities, is almost never put on the ice to kill a game so no empty net goals even though he is 2nd behind only Kap in +/- on the team, and is almost never on the ice in OT. Grit first didn't work, we have TWO 4th lines in our bottom six as Billy doubled down on dumb, we barely have enough to say we have a Top 6 (and zero PP2)… and we continue to struggle on Special Teams and have for the 6 years Billy has run the team. If it weren't for Judd Bracket, Billy would be exposed… Get Rossi signed! Get Kap signed! And don't bring in any more old dudes (Sorry Brock Nelson… wanted you 6 years ago.. not today).

  14. Dubnyk was the reason I started to follow Minnesota as my second team, my first was leafs so playoffs have not been fun for a while.
At the beginning of the season I said Wild over Leafs in the finals (biased, yes) they're setup for a few good years to come.

  15. The Wild may be underwhelming, but people from the outside seem to conflate "State of Hockey" with NHL success or failure. There's no other state in the US that celebrates hockey like Minnesota on all levels. No state has more rinks, registered players, or NHL players. It's uncanny that the Stanley Cup has eluded the state since 1967. Maybe someday. Not this year, though.

These 4 seasons of brutal cap hits from the Parise/Suter buyouts have felt like a decade. No other team got penalized like the Wild did–they served their time and deserve to come out the other side with a couple deep playoff runs, based on their strong draft pool despite not having multiple lottery picks.

W 7th/Kellogg in late May and early June would be electric.

It's been 34 years since a Minnesota Big 4 team has made a championship appearance. Anyone 30-40 only has memories of 4 "deep" playoff runs by all the men's teams, and kids born this century only have memories of one "deep" playoff run by any MN men's team (last years Timberwolves WCF appearance). It's absurd at this point.

  16. Nah if we lose this year that's fine but it's gonna be rough if we lose next year
