Wonder how long it will take for FLA fans to stop echoing “night” during the national anthem post trade
What the sigma
Love this for Chicago. I'm really high on Knight. Would have loved for Utah to figure out a way to get him.
It's a bit of an overpayment for Jones but he'll be fine in FLA. He'll be inspired to play on a winning team for a change.
That 1st rounder will be more like a high 2nd rounder.
I assume you meant Commesso, not Stauber when counting to 5 goalies? Stauber is with Utah/Tucson.
If the Panthers put Tkachuk on long term injured reserve they’ll have major cap space to play with. Zito might be cooking
Chicago wins hands down
Panther fan here. This one could very well blow up in our face. Zito has made some great moves. This one is not one of them. Giving up a young, talented goalie is very short cited. Im really confused with this move.
Florida, as a Blackhawks fan, what the hell.
and Chicago wins immediately aftre trading him. Coincidence?
Would be 4 goalies as Stauber is in Utah/Tucson.
What if they flip knight for someone else since they finally got rid of that jones contract or is knight a much better trade piece to rebuild with? I would recon they could get a lot more of what they need that jones couldn’t offer
There's no team quite like the Sabres but there are a few teams that are pretty close.
To all hawks fans – as a cats fan, I love knight. He’s a dawg. But he’s also incredibly shaky at times. Will usually give up a soft early goal before either finding his footing and settling in, or crumbling by not finding any stability. Nothing against the guy, that’s just how he is as a goalie
Good trade for the Hawks. They will be better without him, and we get a young goalie in return plus a 1st. Jones was never a good fit with Chicago.
Maybe the panthers make a move for Gibson. Get another starting caliber goalie that can takeover when bob retires.
Good deal for Chicago, I think they are going to be very aggressive this offseason. The last thing they want to do is ruin Knight’s confidence because they didn’t shore up the back end. Goalies are weird and confidence is half the battle with them. We’ve seen many star young goalies fade because of it.
Prayers going out to Knight tonight. Also to the Panthers once Bob leaves/retires
Since when could teams trade a draft pick to another team with the condition they, the original team's draft pick can trade the pick again. HUH?
I'm a Hawks fan. I also have followed the Panthers closely since Ekblad was drafted. Not sure why, I just had a rooting interest on the Panthers in the East. I honestly like the trade for both teams. Losing Montour and OEL to free agency hurt and Florida had to make a move to shore up their defense. I think trading for Lindgren from the NYR would have been a better fit, but I think Jones will do well with the talent and expectations in Florida. As for the Hawks, I'm always happy to get more picks, even though it will be a late 1st rounder. Knight is a young up n' comer with a lot of promise, and that cap space is golden.
The giddiness coming off Shannon is awesome to see during these times. First time but been watching him since January last year.
I don't like the trade
Wtf is florida doing omg
Jones is going to KILL IT in Florida. I don't think anyone 'won' this trade, it seems beneficial for both sides.
Thank god dallas didn't get jones. So many other d men id rather have.
Zito overpaid. that's two Ls for Zito. Tippett and Knight.
watch jones turn it around in florida
Seth Jones is a extremely underrated defenseman. Averages 25 minutes a night against the toughest matchups all while producing on average 7 goals and 27 assists. All on horrible teams or teams that he clearly was the best defensive option on the team. Now put him with Florida and he can play 2nd pair role and not have to be the guy? And all Zito had to do was give a marginal goalie and a 1st 2 years from now? And he got them to retain salary? WHAT? There are so many bad GMs in this league. He is not Josi or Makar. But he is a very solid defender on a really bad team. His top minutes this year have come with Martinez who should retire and Vlasic and 23 yr old prospect. What do people expect out of players in that situation. He is going to go to Florida and hose the league. What a master class in how to be a good GM.
Wasn’t Jones the player the Blackhawks were trying to rebuild around? Maybe Florida knows how to utilize Jones, I wouldn’t be surprised. Also, the Blackhawks are back to collecting goalies.
Seth Jones was the 2nd best player on the Hawks. They needed to get a good player back or they would be basement dwellers again next year. After 3 lottery picks in a row, it’s time to get serious and win more games. Davidson should slowly start signing higher end players now.
is Jones still good?
horrible trade for panthers. jones is an absolute fraud. Nurse 2.0
poor Knight
Florida got hosed. I bet the Bedards would have taken less and retained more of that abysmal contract. Ugh, no more backup goalie prospect fun…..
As a Hawks fan I see this as an absolute win. Jones since day one always felt like a terrible fit for where the team was at and has at times looked like a liability on the ice. Chicago has really needed a definitive #1 goaltender that they just haven’t been able to draft, Knight is plenty young, has won a cup, and has all the potential to really blossom into the answer in net we’ve really needed. That 1 for 1 on top of a first rounder and only having to retain a quarter of the Jones contract makes me extremely happy with how this turned out
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Florida has only 3 goalies under contract now? If Bobrovsky goes down…
jaxson stauber's in utah now. dude deserves an actual chance at a full time backup job. he's always impressive when up.
hawks have mrazek, brossoit, soderblom, commesso, and now knight. and gajan in the system.
hawks got more value here than they should have, especially if knight becomes the goalie envisioned when he was drafted. florida is now exposed in net if bob gets hurt. i'm not confident in driedger. maybe they should give utah a call about stauber.
Thats all good and well so at least we can read Yvonnes handwriting, not like shannons chicken scratches
so lets start a petition for Yvonne to do the boards now .. hahhahahah
I liked seeing the contract on the board as being "year 3 of 8" rather than saying he's signed through 2029/30, makes it easier to understand for me.
Keep up the good work!
I absolutely love this trade as a Panthers fan. I think it’s a great hockey trade and both teams win in this scenario
Jaxon Stauber is in the utah org now i thought ??
I’m confused. Florida trades the 26 1st round to Chicago. But it can move to 27 if they want to trade it again? Since when can you trade the same pick multiple times?
