Carolina is 4-6 since Rantanen arrived. Maybe Mikko does not want to be there as Ellliotte Friedman seems to suggest. I don't think the Canes will have a Geuentzel 2.0. If, by Thursday, Carolina does not have a commitment from Rantanen, they probably trade him.
My bet: Rantanen goes to Florida. The team is a legit contender, tax free state, and he’ll be drawn to the prospect of playing next to Barkov his country mate. They’ll have cap space to do it, just means they likely won’t be able to sign both Bennett and Ekblad (unless they can move a contract like Verhaeghe before his NMC kicks in).
L.A . would absolutely love to have him. I cant see the Hurricanes giving him up. If FIA lets Bennet walk ….The cats could look to Mika. If the Rangers will move off Panarian , i wouldn't mind. We are miles from the team we were last few seasons. L.A.? Avs? Stars? Anyone? 🏒🍸
