  1. This is a bit odd, especially with the 3rd round draft pick being a couple of years away in the 2027 draft.

  2. The Pens will have a lot of cap room for next season. Maybe they could make a last go for it before they blow it up.

  3. Extending Crosby and Malkin and Letang on a team that last won the Cup 8 years ago was, to be blunt, stupid as all get out. It was Hab-like on the DUHHHHHH! meter. Mind you, it's good for other teams that the Pens believe in fossils.

  4. This isn't supposed to be a full on rebuild. Expiring contracts is one thing. Eller was on the block from day 1 of his final contract year (most likely last deadline), so don't act like this is the great sell off. I am guessing that the goalie situation and Sid was #1 this off-season, then adding pieces without term in hopes that they formed something that looks like a contender. There's only so much that you will bring in with that logic. Letang and Malkin should have been allowed to walk.

  5. As a Sharks fan, all I can say to Pens fans is I hope you find another hobby for another 5-6 years.

  6. Sorry but till '27 Penguins will be running slow with their championship core

  7. Great to have another player back in DC from when we won the cup. Nice move by the caps.

  8. Eller is good in the playoffs so it looks as if the Penguins are looking long term not for the playoffs.
Of the four players mentioned Crosby would get the biggest return but I just don't see him moving. The defencemen could only be moved if Dubas threw in draft picks and/or retained salary. In my mind this makes Malkin the only one who may be able to be traded. I don't know him well enough to determine if he wants to chase another Cup or just stay and retire a Penguin.

  9. Eller will slot in perfectly to the 3C position. That was honestly the only position that had significant weaknesses on the team. Plus he played on a line with Vrana for years previously.

  10. All I know is that if Pittsburgh goes into a rebuild, just like the Rangers and Devils, they'll finish it before Philly does and I'll want to punch a baby.

  11. Franchises forced to rebuild
    Sens 2016
    Sharks 2020
    Penguins 2024
Gee, i wonder what all these teams have in common?
Erik Karlsson, the destroyer of franchises.

3 Norris trophies for the defenseman who doesn't play defense. 😜😂🤣
Most overrated player in NHL history.

  12. I remember a few years back hearing Malkin and Letang were gunna go elsewhere, but Sid convinced them to stay. Pretty sure Tanger wanted to go to Montreal…..so if any of the big 3 go anywhere my bets on Letang

  13. It’s sad to picture “Syd the Kid” in a different uniform, but if he could win another Cup (or a couple more) elsewhere, I want that for him as a fan. I hope Dubois has the smarts to engineer a swift rebuild and a fresh wave of rising Penguin 🐧 stars will thrill us soon.

  14. I wouldn’t mind seein Beauvillier back with the Islanders, since that one small good stint with Vancouver it has been a very rocky time for him, got bounced around the league a lot, maybe he’ll find his game back once he goes back to NYI.

  15. I don't think they can do anything to turn things around in Pittsburgh, until they get rid of Dubas. Trading Eller isn't going to do anything good for the Penguins, except give the illusion of them being managed and give their fans a dirty feeling by trading Eller to the Capitals.

  16. Beauviller, O'Connor, and Puljujarvi will be dealt at the deadline or be dealt in response to another teams needs based on injuries. Marcus Pettersson will be traded for an actual asset. Pens will need to replace Pettersson on the left side. Grzylek SUCKS and is worthless. Shea has no value. Jarry led the league in shutouts last year playing for a bum club. He actually has value if someone sees it. Moving onto CORE fantasy trades: Crosby to Vancouver for Elias Pettersson. Pens get younger and skilled. JT Miller 87, and Tocchet go for the Cup. Malkin to the Caps for McMichael and Ryan Leonard, Pens get younger. Geno assists Ovechkin. Letang to Montreal for Logan Mailloux. Keep EK65 until someone trade for him at a trade deadline 50% retained at the end of his contract. Why? He thrives on crap teams with 1 good offensive defenseman. LETS GO DUBAS.

  17. Crosby to Montreal for Demidov?
Rutger McGroarty to Anaheim for Trevor Zegras? RM plays with his buddy Cutter. Zegras is the Pens new #2C

  18. Pens should tank for Gavin McKenna next year by trading all. GM is Bedard's cousin. Let's go Pens.

  19. Crosby does not want to leave he already has his cups and he feels it is better for his brand to stay as a pen.

  20. Trade Jarry for a used pair of Nike's and trade EK for as many high value picks as possible.

  21. Feel sorry for the core team in Pittsburgh They still are the best performing guys on the team but unfortunately it looks like it’s not going to happen for them to be contenders again So the rebuild/retooling around them is not working Tough decisions ahead but I anticipate a fire sale coming Just not clear what they can get for all those 35+ veterans with big contracts

  22. At least my penguins got 3 more Stanley cups. They should be enough to keep me afloat as we sink into the abyss.

  23. Pittsburgh needed something in return, like immediately, for Sid and Geno's sake. This is sending bad signals. I agree with you @justinwillness3162

A sign of good faith would have been getting Protas and sending them 2025 2nd round 2026 1st round. Or maybe just in exchange for a dman who's good defensively who can actually manage to get points (no idea what's happening to Graves, he's not 37, but just 5 years ago he used to have 25-35 pts seasons in New Jersey and elsewhere, like say Trevor Van Riemsdyk, yeah he's 33, but he's very solid defensively. Now unless Sid, Geno, Karlsson play the best they can every night and Jarry becomes Jarry again, Pens just lost one of the most solid 2 way centre (more defensively minded now, but thats fine) the Habs ever produced (yeah I know St-Louis drafted him, but they didn't really give much of a chance).
