What you said is true about my team but I think that we have to be careful when it comes to trades because of the horrible asset management of the previous GM. Hopefully the players do it in the playoffs

The Jets and Leafs are both teams that… until they make the 3rd round, nobody outside their fanbases, will ever care how good they're doing in the regular season. We all (fans of the other 30 teams) doubt either will go far. That said, there's a lot of annoying leaf's fans, so it's funny to see them lose every year in the first round (with a few exceptions.)
If the Jets go far, I'll be happy for them. Watching them fail every year draws a little pity from me. I'm a sens fan, so to be fair my team has been ass for years, but at least we've never been known for getting to the playoffs just to fall apart year after year.
Historically we've done well as underdogs, so if (giant ifffff) we make the playoffs this year, I wouldn't be surprised if they went 2 or 3 rounds before bouncing out. But chances are, the sens will miss the playoffs by 1 or 2 points, the leafs will bounce in the first round, and the Oilers or VGK will will win it all with some help from the zebras.
I'd love to see a CBJ vs Wild Stanley cup finals….. two teams I'm rather indifferent on, but what a story that would make.

matthews is my all time favorite leaf, but if he doesn't show up in the playoffs this year, i would be 100% fine if we move off of him. the man doesn't have a single clutch bone in his body.
Good video, I've noticed the leafs are better on defense this season winning some low scoring affairs, when in the past they were only able to score a lot. Can't win without great D.

the leafs will never win with matthews as the leader and marner as his side bitch. neither of them has a killer instinct and they both seem to love insta-loser and the likes than they do actually winning hockey games. neither of them seems to give a single shit when they lose and they ALWAYS say THEY played great so they dont understand how they lost. the leafs are NEVER going to win a cup with this core and shanny will NOT change it so i simply stopped watching after 40 years. they do NOT deserve anymore of my time
Something a lot of people overlook is that the Stanley Cup Finalist from the East has been from the Atlantic Division for the last 6 years, and in the bubble season with both Tampa and Montreal in the Final it was 2 teams from the Atlantic.
Toronto has absolutely underperformed in the playoffs, no doubt, but some of that is just them being unlucky enough to be good when their Division is the strongest Division in the NHL.
The Leafs could win it all, but they won’t, same with the Oilers.
I have seen the Leafs win 5 Stanley Cups and this year 2025 WILL be No. 6 They have an incredible amount of scoring chances game after game Mathews-Mahovlich, Marner -Keon,
Reilly – Horton , Stolarz – Bower, Domi – Shack, Knies – Pulford , Tavares – Armstrong , McCabe – Baun , Tanev – Stanley . I guarantee it !!!!!!!!

Trust me any USA Hockey fan can tell you the hard limitations of your team when Auston Matthews is your best player.
They could have Gretzky, Lemieux Brett hull Crosby Mcjesus lindstrom Mackinnon marner matthews Bobby Orr ovi with god between the pipes and bowman coaching and they’d still be a second round bust. Ballard bones are too close to the arena until they’re moved zero chance they’ll pass the curse of the great bambino no problem

i really hope come playoff time that the players have berube's system down to muscle memory, but i don't think they will.
playoffs is about minimizing mistakes and capitalizing on opponents mistakes made, which is much easier to do if you have a solid system to rely on. i think berube has brought that system, i just don't know if all the players are bought in, and if they are all dedicated/practiced enough to have it stop the panic when the mistakes occur.

Goaltending has been the obvious win this year. We've stolen many games from great goaltending. That could very well be the catalyst come the playoffs.
The west is really strong. Like really strong. They need a Mackinon or McDavid. Someone that makes the players around them better. Seems like their job now is to pass matthews the puck and he misses too many games.
a stanley cup appearance or even a conference final appearance would be enough show for me at this point

I'm convinced these guys just cannot handle pressure of losing when those games matter the most. The individual skill is enormous, but the maturity levels are non-existent. Not to say for all of them, but key figures, just buckle under pressure, but when you walk away with these pay cheques, does it matter?
I like this channel but I cannot bring myself to watch this as a Leafs fan. Generally, people who don't root for the Leafs hate Leafs fans, think we're all obnoxious hooting face-painters when we're actually depressed because when we drafted Matthews, the assumption was we'd have some kind of Cup window. We havent. They win 3 playoff games a year. After Game 82, they can't score, they can't defend, the PP sucks, the PK sucks harder, our goalie turns into Swiss cheese, the Core 4 (5 if you include Rielly) can't buy a goal and the bottom 6 completely vanishes.
If I could go back in time to 1993, I would pick a different team to root for. It's been psychologically devastating to follow this team. I'm kind of amazed that we're going to go through the Matthews era without a single deep playoff run.
I'd like to be wrong.
The pre-season is meaningless.
The regular season is only there to make sure you make the actual season.
