  1. Mikko is dead to me. Eric has the mind set of a winner. I appreciate the guy. At the same time, someone’s gotta light that f***er mikko up. He betrayed his team and fanbase imo. The new duchene??

  2. When Mitts isn't producing points he's a borderline detriment. At least Coyle will be physical

  3. Avs are not rebuilding. Picks and prospects are useless. I'll never understand people getting upset about picks and prospects on a cup contender

  4. You guys are great man. Always enjoy the back and forth from you all. I love what the Avs did, getting Nelson was massive. He’s not just a goal scorer, this dude is a fantastic playmaker and 2 way center-man, he can play in all phases. Love that we are going for it, I’d match our top 4 centers against the best in the league. Most important position imo. And we are loaded there. Helluva job by C-Mac and Sakic! Let’s go Avs! From here in southeast Michigan!

  5. During the live trade deadline stream. Eric "I love Casey".."I believe in Casey". 20 mins later the Avs traded him & cut to "I love this deal for Coyle".."It just wasn't a fit with Casey" LMAO.

I get that it's an Avs pod & Eric is friends with Sakic & has ties with the organization. But you have to be objective SOMETIMES. I can't take you seriously when all you ever do is slobber everything the Avs front office does. It's getting really.. really hard to listen to. If I want Avs propaganda I'll listen to Altitude radio lol.

  6. Connect the dots… avs are going all in because they know its landy and EJ's last run. Here we go. Prepare your hearts

  7. You guys don’t know anything about the Jets. Gus is not our 4th line center. It’s kupari.

  8. Disaster of a trade. We are so ruthless. Paid to flip Mitts for Coyle. Asked Mitts to carry a 2nd line by himself most of the year. 😮. Ok he can't do that, but neither can Coyle. There must be more to this. They know more about Mitts than us. From here, Mitts is better than Coyle. Hopefully I'm just biased and incorrect.

  9. Landy is playing the long con on fulfilling his prophecy of being a 3rd line grinder. So it shall be 🙇

  10. EJ coming back, winning another cup and possibly retiring would be an awesome story. Jersey at the ceiling worthy.

  11. Drouins in a great spot to succeed now. Either serving up Mack + Necas, Nelson + Nichush, or Coyle + Colton every night. Those guys ALL love to shoot.

  12. Can't believe Col has got Brock and Coyle. I've watched those 2 beat up Pitt for years, and now it'll be nice to have them on a team that i follow.

Last yr L3: Kivi Colt Wood

This yr, their L4 will be better than last yr L3.
    L4 today: Kivi Dru Wood

    L3 today: LOC Coyl Colt

Much tougher to play against today.

  13. I don't think they trade Ritchie without thinking of keeping Nelson. You guys always say it's easier to find wings … You gotta keep this C depth move players from the wing. Even if it means letting a guy like Drouin go.

  14. I am excited to see Parker Kelly on the wing! He plays with a lot of good energy just center is not his spot!

  15. I like Coyle but I cannot believe how much they paid for him. That at most should have been a one for one swap. Cannot believe they also gave up a good prospect and a higher draft pick too.

  16. Good news, Avs don't know what to do with a first round after say pick 5. So trading away picks…I'm okay. They will have to rely on FA more in coming years and clever trades where the player stinks but fits well here.

  17. Totally agree guys. Avs went from Nate,& below average centers beyond him to-I dont think anybody on paper-at least in the West-is as good as us today-with Nate,Nelson,Coyle,& Drury. Dallas is as good as anybody else in the west at center but id take the Avs by a little. WPG overall is very good at 1C cuz of Scheflie,(but he isnt elite like Nate,Mcdavid,or Eichel)& Lowry is elite at 3C (but Coyle narrowed the gap some). Nemesticov at 2C is miles behind what Colorado & Dallas have.

1 of the important 2ndary reasons getting Nelson that people don't consider was also keeping him from Minny & especially WPG-who did nothing to improve 2C. Just like in 1999-00,& 2000-01-adding Bourque,& Blake back to back years was gigantic. But keeping them,(& to lesser degree even keeping Andruchuk from our rivals in the Bourque trade)from Detroit,Dallas,& St Louis was also huge,& double whammy. Not by much but Id take Drury at 4C over what Dallas,& WPG have. He was ok at 3C cuz we had no choice-but I said since we got him-he slots in far more appropriately at 4C. Just like Boston had to play Coyle too high at 2C a lot-but he slots in PERFECTLY here as 3C.

At wing-I agree Dallas has the best depth in the West but not by miles over us. I don't think there's some huge gap at either top 6 wings or wings depth 1-12,& even beyond. And I think it's possible it could end up a wash worst case. And id say the Avs are now a little better there than WPG. Defense-I think all 3 teams lack depth at the bottom. But overall Id take the Avs defense 1 through 8 today-by a little over both. If Heskinen is healthy-id give us a small edge but if there is no Heskinen-Dallas is actually pretty weak on defense overall,& significantly behind both.

Goaltending-no doubt WPG has the edge on everybody in the NHL. And Ottenger has played in a couple WCFs,& Blackwood has no playoff experience-so id give Dallas the slight edge-but Blackwood has been better with the us than Ottenger this regular season. And I believe both Dallas,& Colorado have the smallest gap between their guys to Hellunbuck-of probably any West playoff team. And Hellunbck has struggled in past playoffs,& while he wasnt bad-he was again-2nd best goalie in a big game-at 4 nations gold medal game. Will he get lit up again in these playoffs-I doubt it. But will he be dominant & miles ahead of Blackwood or Ottenger-I also doubt that.

Big picture-all 3 got better at deadline. But WPG only got marginally better at 3rd line wing with Tanev,& 3rd pair D with Shenn. But didnt address their gaping 2C hole-which is now the biggest weakness on any of the 3 teams. Dallas had some level of overall advantage on both to me-& got significantly more explosive offensively with Mikko. Hes the best player added by anybody. But he isnt great defensively,& doesnt play right side D-by far their biggest weakness that they didnt address.

Of the 3-Avs are only team that addressed (to some degree)-every major weakness. Adding EJ is huge in intangibles but doesnt fully fix,or make you elite in defensive depth. But as AJ said-hes good enough if he has to play #6 or #7. I was thrilled after the 2 big trades but still said we needed 1 more decent,veteran,#6/7 dman before the bell-to make me feel better. I didnt think of EJ specifically but he fills that at least adequately. I still dont feel great about our defense at the bottom but feel its now slightly better than those 2 teams.

And how did we fix all our main weaknesses to some degree? The Rantanen trade-Id still take Mico straight up in the moment over Necas in a vacuum for these playoffs. I think he will produce in Dallas-much better than in Carolina,& slightly more than Necas here. But you cant look at it in a vacuum in a hard cap sport. While id take Mico straight up for these playoffs over Necas-I wouldnt remotely take Mico ALONE over Necas,Drury,& Nelson or even straight up over Necas,Drury,& Coyle. Again-this is not talking after this year. If we dont win the Cup,(or at least make the Finals) &/or resign Nelson-it could bite us longterm.

But theres no chance we get BOTH Nelson,& Coyle without the cap savings of trading Mikko. Without that trade we might not only not have added Nelson but probably are looking at him on WPG-instead filling their biggest need-& maybe making them my pick to win the West. Maybe we get 1 or the other if we keep Mikko but not both. I love & miss Mikko,& he will be tough to beat if we play Dallas. But I believe as we sit here today,& assuming reasonable health-whoever wins Dallas-Colorado-is better than WPG,& will make the Cup Finals.(today id pick Florida to beat either Dallas or us-but i predict I will be working the Finals at Ball vs Florida.)

1 advantage Dallas,& WPG have on us & cant be quantified is coheison,& chemistry. We have a lot more new guys to integrate & gel together in a hurry,& thats an unknown. As is Blackwoods lack of playoff experience. We have more unknowns that have to be proven beyond in theory. But at least on paper-I like the Avs roster better than WPG by a quasi significant amount,& barely over Dallas if Heskinen comes back. By more than a little if he doesnt.

Another caveat is Nichuskin still has to be healthy,& not suspended. He is our most irreplaceable player still,& all bets are off if he isnt in our playoff lineup. As for Minnesota-I think they are too injured-with too many unknowns & even if healthy-still a year away from escaping cap hell,& true contention. Future is bright but smart for them to hold onto assets,& wait til at least 2025-26 to go all in.
