  1. THG hates talking about the Leafs eh! Was hoping to hear more of an analysis but we, along with THG, are all jaded from or apathetic toward this franchise at this point, there's just nothing to say anymore. They are who they are and they prove it all the time

  2. The pain never ends.

    Just heard the craziest stat.

The Leafs have never won more than two rounds ever.

  3. Matthews is gonna go down as a terrible captain, he has no leadership skills. It should have been Rielly from the start

  4. When I tell my friends that are new to hockey about the Leafs, I always liken them to the Dallas Cowboys. Massive market, massive and extremely passionate fanbase that shows out in droves for any game — drowning out home fans at some away games. Both franchises have had historic success, but none anytime recently. Both teams can put together lineups that are lethal in the regular season, but can never find a way to get it done in the playoffs. Even when it seems like all the pieces SHOULD work, something doesn't click.

I am a flyers fan through and through. Never been close to a leafs fan, but man… Ive started feeling so bad for their fans, its hard not to cheer for them a little. I wouldn't wish this curse upon any franchise. Stay strong Toronto fans!

  5. I've probably lost at least 20 years of my life being a fan of this team. 2 division titles since the Great Depression.

  6. I'm probably one of the rare leaf fans who had no problem with Dion. I thought he played with passion, he defended his teammates and came to the rink every night to play. I think he was better than people think he was and he was on a really bad team that he was the captain of, he was given a contract that he probably shouldn't have gotten. These are things out of his control mostly. So, I think if he was on a better team with better teammates he would have been a fine captain.

  7. The next rebuild is going to be rough. You can't win the cup top loading your roster like the Laughs have done.

  8. Leafs will have to dump Matthews as soon as the contract allows, before they can build a winning (i.e. playoff winning) team.

  9. I’ve said this before, still believe it – The Leafs need never win another Cup. They are the most lucrative franchise, and over the decades, the fanbase has been large enough (and loyol enough) to keep filling the rink. Why waste any extra effort for no extra return? That said, I think it would be nice for them to finally hoist a Cup in 2067, though I’d have to set a record for longevity in order to see it.

  10. On this ice I can see some parallels to the Leafs of the mid to late 70's. A strong core but not enough depth. At least the ownership nowadays isn't batshit

  11. As a Leafs fan, I don’t know what honest Leafs fan could really argue they deserve better than C+ on the quarter-century

  12. I can remember in my very early hockey days almost becoming a Leafs fan even though I wasn't from Toronto or even Canada. That's because I liked Sittler and Lanny and Eddie Shack. But God saw I was already a Cincy Bengals and Chicago White Sox fan and decided that was enough punishment for one guy and moved me away from the Leafs. So I've just been an impartial observer for the last 50 years.

  13. they have sucked. management has been abject failures and yet morons will keep paying to see them. the team today has NO leaders, NO heart and does NOT give a single fuck about losing. i just stopped watching. they do NOT deserve my time and the way the league is run…neither does it. same goes for the racist as shit nba, nfl. i dont need rich clowns lecturing me and forcing their bullshit down my throat. just not worth the time. would rather read a book

  14. Thank god you're only doing a quarter century. If you went back to their last Cup win this video caols take hours.

  15. Those early 2000s (to 2004) Leafs didn't seem too bad. They made it to the second round with general ease.

  16. I think the unsolved Marner situation ruins this season for the leafs. They should have done what the Avalanche did with Rantanen. The way it is now the team is not focused.

  17. If they don't succeed in the playoffs this year, then I would say that there is a curse of the former owner, Harold E. Ballard. This is because Brendan Shanahan was hired on the 24th anniversary of Ballard's death.

    This is my latest reason.

The Non Call in 1993 still gets me to shake my head, though.

  18. One thing that needs to be mentioned was when Babcock took over. Many believed he was the best coach in the world at the time. Leaf nation was so pumped

  19. Whenever somebody asks me what it feels like to be a leaf fan, I respond with the question:
    “ever seen the movie Misery?”

If there are any new hockey fans looking to be leaf fans, don't. Save yourself.

  20. I wanted my Leafs to draft 4 players in my life. In the time they played the Leafs made 4 Conference Finals. The players won 4 Cups, 6 times in SC Finals, 14 times in Conference Finals.

  21. As a Leafs fan, it's hard to realize that in over 100 years, ie their whole existence, they've never won more than 2 playoff series in any one year. Even though to win prior to '67, you only played 2 series max. So since then, they've never won 3 or more series. But to say this for their whole existence sounds worse.

  22. I really don't wanna watch this video. But you worked hard on it, so I will. I'll just cry.

  23. When Babcock was hired he wanted to build through the middle. They got Matthews, later Tavares, traded for Andersen, then decided to stop and rest, not getting a #1 defenceman to this day. Defense is better now, but no defenceman on the team can play in any situation, not even close.

  24. If they were really bad for another year they would be better off lowkey. If they got one of Heiskanen or hell Makar (they probably wouldn't have known much like Colorado tho)
