  1. Bettman became the commissioner on february 1st 1993 the last time a Canadian team won the cup was june 9th 1993🪑

  2. The current format minimizes travel distances ($$) and reduces the chance of repeat champions, thereby increasing the number of interested regions.

  3. So what happens when Dallas and Colorado hop over Vegas in points and the central division literally has Top 3 teams in west and have to play each other in first and second round??

  4. Wouldn’t mind that . Seems like the same teams keep playing each other in the first round with the current format.

  5. Bettman is so out of touch to why the old format was better, it's unbelievable that someone with his job power can't see that

  6. Without the 1-8 we would have never had the awesome Vancouver-Chicago Rivalry that happened.

  7. Everyone but that idiot knows the old format is best. But he some crazy ass stubborn fool who won't admit he's wrong. Those why Phoenix lasted so long cause he refused to admit he was wrong about that city and honestly still is stubborn to admit he's wrong.

  8. What about 1-16? Get rid of the conferences. Regular season schedule would have to change. Reseed after every round. Makes the regular season count for way more

  9. How about rank ALL teams 1-16, and go 1 vs 16, 2vs, 15 etc. ……. Stop this horseshit of first round series like Florida-Tampa / Dallas vs. Colorado…. And don't give the usual reasons like travel – first round right now, you will still possibly have Toronto travelling to Tampa, or Edmonton flying to LA….. The current division playoff matchups have become EXTREMELY redundant!

  10. It's much more exciting to watch when 2 really good teams meet in the conference final rather then in the first round. With the divisional format it basically guarantees that some of the best teams will be out in the first round. And that's on top of the fact that we get alot of the same first round match ups year after year. So yeah bring back 1v8

  11. Yes! I've loathed this new format ever since in started. Oh look, another year of Oilers vs Kings, how exciting… This format is absolutely miserable and forcing Dallas to play Colorado instead of LA (if playoffs started today) for all their efforts to get points is criminal. Third most points in the league, second most in the conference has to play the fourth seed in the west?! Bring 1-8 back!

  12. most of the matchups would still be the same but yes it would be nice to officially see the 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5 format back

  13. Anyone wanting old form dont even watch regular season hockey…everyone looks forward to rivalry matchups which are created by playing each other in playoffs every year to get out of your divison

  14. I grew up in the 70's the old format would be 1 plays 16 regardless of conference in a 21 team league. When there were only 17 teams the four best would get a bye and the other teams would play a 3 game series I think.

  15. I personally loved the old format. As a Sens fan so called the underdogs.. I wouldn't mind playing the Canes or the Caps to start.
