  1. The fact that he makes everyone around him play better and more effective, just doing the most important non-flashy hard work on the ice every game is something to look up to. He doesn't expect any recognition (from the media) for what he does and still does it so perfectly. For us Finns it's hard to find this kind of talent and dedication amongst our pro players and they only tend to appear once or twice in a generation. I think Jere Lehtinen is the closest one to compare him and Jere never got enough recognition for what he did. So big shout-out for Bill Zito(and the whole Panthers organization) for sticking with Barky and really noticing his potential on and of the ice. We are very, very proud of him in Finland and he represents our small nation perfectly.

  2. "Don't worry. The victories will come". And now, I respect him even more. Didn't think that was possible. The best player in the NHL IMO. So glad he is Florida's captain. Every player on the team wants to do better just to show him they can. He makes every player better, and there's no good statistic for that really.

  3. So much humility, class & pure talent all rolled into one awesome man! We’re so lucky to have Sasha as our Captain!

  4. It's interesting that he doesn't have a Finnish accent, although he grew up in Finland. But the accent is still Russian

  5. "I thought we'd play in Miami" 😂all time favorite player NO QUESTION. Dale Tallon did us did us such a favor with him.

  6. Barky's style of play has made the NHL game much more interesting to watch in a way unlike that of MacKinnon, McDavid, Crosby, Ovi, or Kane. Barky's game — which he learned from his dad/Finland — is much more intelligent than that of most North Americans. I'm reiterating the same complaint that was made 40 years ago: the Nordic countries & Russians play a smarter, better version of ice hockey than do the North Americans. Gradually, North Americans will learn.

  7. Sasha has the rare set of incredible skills, great work ethic, and humility second to none. He is all about "team". We Panthers fans are so blessed to have him !

  8. Dude, if you win the cup for the Panthers this year, I'll name the next baby in my family after you… I'm from Ukraine.. Panthers fan since '96

  9. I think we Finnish🇫🇮 People dont make noise about our selfs we just do our thing without any unnessery talk or anything else. Hi from FINLAND 🇫🇮 GO CATS

  10. Florida Panthers are all about barkov and Barkov is all about the Panthers. It is very rare to see such a team-oriented star player. I am glad we get to watch him play on our team. I have been a Florida fan since 1993-1994 debut season and I am enjoying it ever more today.

  11. I know of no person I would prefer as the "face of Finland" over Barkov. And I'm not even talking about his icehockey skills.

  12. That’s our captain! Barky is such a calm and humble player who doesn’t have that “yeah, I’m the shit” type of attitude like a lot of guys get over time. One of the best 200 foot players ever to touch the ice, IMO.

  13. My favorite player since he got drafted. Aleksander Barkov is a beautiful representation of hockey. He embodies everythang a player should aspire to be, period. Thank your for everything, Captain. Love you, Barky. Go CATS. 1

  14. He won't sacrifice the right play for a flashy play or goal. If it is not a winning hockey play, it's not happening

  15. We are so lucky to have Barky as the Florida Panther's captain. The epitome of a guy who speaks softly and carries a big stick; humble, stoic, talented, selfless. Go Barky, go!
