  1. How bizarre that he was an Enforcer, yet the tribute didn't show Derek throw one punch; what does that tell you?

  2. I feel really bad for the boogy man, he chose to sacrifice his health to protect his team, and did not fear his opponents. RIP Boogy Man, you are missed

  3. Been ages since he died but he was my favourite player even though I support the bruins. R.I.P Boogeyman ❤️

  4. I found out that over half of the New York rangers (one of his former teams) were not gonna attend his funeral (including tortorella) until Sean Avery of all people MADE everyone go

  5. His brother aaron played for the minor league team here in Wichita, it was very cool seeing his brother on my favorite team

  6. Hockey is a team game. And Boogie was the ultimate team player. Rest in peace Derek

  7. The enforcers put their lives on the line for entertainment and owner profit… as a kid you dream of playing your most popular national sport only to realize it’s not as glamours as it looks like on TV. His brain at age 28 had to deteriorated so rapidly because of all the concussions … a stiff price to pay for four years of pro hockey! He fights need to go!

  8. Goddamn this shit was sad. It’s funny, a lot of the time the biggest toughest meanest guys are normally the nicest easy going guys. Rest easy Derek.

  9. His death was definitely too soon and very tragic, but in some ways it is a blessing in disguise. His brain was analyzed and he already had severe chronic traumatic encephalitis, which means there was no going back, his symptoms would only have gotten worse and life would have gotten harder and harder for him. He would have had to head with years of treatments, medications, struggling to focus/read/think, it's just an awful thing to have to deal with. Going back out on the ice would have been suicidal, and with his career all but over, he was definitely lost and confused. It's a reflection of why hockey needs to reduce the amount of head trauma. This shouldn't have happened in the first place, but I think it was probably the only peaceful end he was going to get.

  10. He held those guys together, backed them up and loved the fans. And to see that man get the goal he deserved. Godspeed Devin

  11. I loved watching him. So very sad. Those eyes say it all. There is some serious pain in those eyes especially by the time he hit the Rangers. RIP big man.

  12. Love it! Glory to our last of enforcers. I'm from Regina and made my eyes wet. Hockey nowdays sucks and he left a legacy of tradition that we old timers love. You are in heaven buddy hail the Boogeyman!

  13. the wild couldnt give some of his siblings a fkn professional wild jerseys to wear at ceremony??? i hope they settled for a ton $$$$ , and bettman personally cut the check!

  14. As a lifelong hockey supporter who because of my short height ended up a musician it's sad to say the players I have the most in common with are Derek and other great enforcers. Often the tough players have the biggest hearts and just as often they are overlooked. He was a great man and players like him, Belak, and Rypien who we all lost showed us something- if you don't fight for your dreams your dreams may never come true. Rest In Peace Derek, Wade, and Rick.
