Setup your tee times boys.
Merzlikins is a good goalie when an opposing player is attacking such as in shoot-outs. He moves his feet well. Unfortunately, he can't stop a shot from 30 feet.
Well, this past week has shown and underlined exactly what issues this team has. Going to be an interesting summer for Waddell.
It has been a great run this season and has competed well above what most thought possible after last season. But last nights game showed there are still some issues that would prevent CBJ from going far in the playoffs if they even made it.
It was embarrassing to watch how they folded after being up 3 to 2. It has happened too much this year. It almost appears as though Elvis doesnt handle pressure very well and folds. He has always been like that in my opinion. He has no confidence. Can that be fixed or is it tome to move on from him? Defense is also lacking big time.
For the comments placing all the blame on Elvis, have you watched this defense? Incredibly soft in front of the net, missed coverage in the slot, soft plays on the puck, tons of time and space all over the zone, waaaay too many pucks getting through that should've been blocked by the forwards or d, failed clearing attempts, etc. etc. etc. It feels like the whole team is saving energy on defense to use on offense trying to outscore their lack of focus on playing the right way. It was likely this way the whole year, but as other teams buckle down to get ready for the playoffs, all the Jackets deficiencies are being exposed. Sure Elvis had a bad game, but he's been bailing them out all year.
Just like to point out that Steve McCarthy wasn't even supposed to be the d coach. But since he's been in charge, the Jackets have been one of the worst teams for goals against, every year. Can't say it's entirely his fault, with poor signings like Severson, but he's been a common denominator.
definitely played a lot of good hockey. hey Metz, and other interviewers who do you think you are calling out the guys. destroying pride and causing division. It's not our year quit dissecting it. next interviewer that asks a stupid question gets held down. and the player with the dirtiest hair and sweat covered behind grinds in their face live on TV. the only people allowed to Queston the guys are the GM or the coaching staff. let me in the room Waddell. these reporters definitely need a lesson on how to have a respectable conversation in public.
