The three goalies Ovie has scored the most goals against are, in order: Fleury, Lundqvist, and Price. And also that he passed Jagr for most GWG when he tied Gretzky, as well as scored his first against Sorokin when he set the record – it's all made for writing about it. Also, Gretzky's was also against the Islanders if I recall correctly.
The best overall player is paramount. Wayne made his teammates better. He could have scored more goals if he had focused solely on doing so, like Ove did.
Rightly upset with Gretzky? Over a political view you disagree with. Just a reminder, that political view won a blowout in November, so he is part of the majority. Get over yourself and talk sports.
Crazy thing is he can get to 1000 l. Lets say next year he scores 40 he would have like 940 and 2 more seasons with 30 is possible

For the inter division games at the end of the season idea… that’s kinda why the Blues were able to gain ground since Jan 1. The first half of their schedule was very East-heavy. Lots of 4 point games after they figured out how to play together. The schedule quirk was the main reason I thought they still had a shot at making a run in the second half, though I obviously didn’t think they would win 12 in a row to do so
He's got one more year on a contract, and he's full loyal to the org, and he will stay for that year. Cause early retirement will hurt Caps financially.

Man I hope Ovi has his eyes set on 1000 goals, that would be so unbelieveable. Also, WSH has the best prospect roster in the league. They'll be competitive the entire time if he wants to go for 1000. So, if he wants or sees it this way, there's a lot to play for still after this year.
Ovi still needs 49 goals to beat the playoff + regular season goal scoring record. I think he goes for that, then hangs it up.
He already said he's gonna retire at the end of his contract and before turning 41, unfortunately 😢
If Matthews had Ovi's injury record, he could break it. But he's already had too many injuries that will impact his future too.

I'd say a big kudos has to go to the Islanders crowd. They were super excited to see him get the record and cheering really loud and chanting his name to make the moment perfect. It would've felt a lot less special if the crowd was just politely clapping.
Maybe Beddard or Celebrini could break Ovi's record if they improve a lot

As a Caps fan, I would love to see Ovie go for 1000, and I think he could do it if he were so inclined. But I think it is highly likely Ovie plays 1 more year and then is done. It's in his character (as well as the character of his agent…his mom) to finish out the deal he signed up to. It's it 1 more year left. At that point, I think he goes home. It's a such a logical break point. He's already won every award. He has his cup. Now he has his goal record. In his final year, he'll cross 900 goals. He'll get to enjoy a farewell tour. It feels right. It feels like closure.
Really amusing to see these two, because of their insane ideology, having to tip toe around being fans of Gretzky and Ovechkin.
Goalies are 6’4 and 4ft wide now, record will never be broken. On top of this “Enforcers or body guards” are long gone. Ovi has the ability and toughness to do this no other player will ever do this. Can’t be a glass cannon to beat this record anymore.
I hope Alex Ovechkin gets over 1000 goals, when all is said and done, I sense that he could break Patrick Marleau's record for games played, if he wanted to.
13:13 True but I do think a big part of Gretzky having the record so long is right after his time u go into the trap era where if a team scored 4 goals to 1 that was a blowout.
Although I think Ovi has said in the past he wants to finish his career playing in Russia for CSKA Moscow which is his ht team in the KHL (Problem is that's also the team that's owned by the Russian Gov't but that's another thing)
SO Sportsnet 360 is one of those interesting channel where if ur cable company is Rogers u get it automatically. HOWEVER IF UR CABLE COMPANY IS ANYTHING EXCEPT ROGERS (Esp if its Bell) Sportsnet 360 is a "specialty channel" where u have to pay more UNLESS u pay for the sports package which is kinda like paying for the specialty channel anyways. Theres also some rumours that say if ur with Bell they make u pay more than if ur with Koodo cable (I don't know name small country tv/wifi company here)
