Dubas has ruined this team, Crosby helped build Jake and management wouldn’t pay him. Lars was the only one below the 1st line that skated, management trades him. Peterson was the best plus minus D man, management traded him.
Sid being voted "Most Complete" player in the league at his age is amazing.
Will you cover the Flower's last game? He is one of the four greatest goalies. Pit will retire his number when he enters the HOF. Really miss him.
How exciting, another opportunity for me to come on here to talk about just how bad Dubas' roster construction and approach has been.
What is said: we want to be competitive in Sid's years (2-3 years)
What happens: trade away a 40 goal scorer and only first line winger you have. Of which there is no replacement player in free agency or in the system.
Imagine if the capitals traded away Tom Wilson (not equivalent to Guentzel) 2 years ago? when they sucked?
The Guentzel trade will be a bad move, the day it happened, a year later, and 5 years from now when the three guys will be nothing more than 2nd and 3rd liners, and you are trying to fit Sid with players who aren't first liners, as has been the case his whole career
DK – you get a lot of compliments and they are all deserved and you are always gracious about these compliments – but this session is one of your super very best – I ask myself why – and the idea came to me that you are good at this work because of a couple simple reasons – 1. you can see what is obvious and you share what you see as obvious – so many others try to spin flax into gold and think they are goldilox. You stay in your lane and those of us – your listeners – who live our lives and value "staying in our lane" appreciate this and 2. you obviously 🙂 work hard – you are not pretentious about your opinions but you are careful to detail and you work hard in your work. Respect to that. It is a tribute to your parents. Hope you have a good holy week – Thanks for your work – keep keeing it real!
I compare Sid with probably the best 2 way center of the past, Bryan Trottier. +/- obviously in Trottier's favor. Points obviously in Sid's favor as he continues to play. Trottier had the advantage of playing with arguably one of the best pure goal scorer in NHL history, Mike Bossy (RIP) and one of the best left wingers and enforcers of that generation, Clark Gilles ((RIP) for 10 years. Sid has had some very good wingers, but not for that length of time. Those Islanders were more frequent Stanley Cup contenders until the time Trottier left for the Penguins.
DK, the bottom six with Novak, Lizotte, Dewar(if retained) and possibly Ponomarev making the team next year, do you think Dubas looks to move one, if not all, of Acciari, Hayes and Heinen to make more room to get younger or even upgrade via free agency?
My opinion. If Ovi is the LeBron of the NHL, then Sid is Michael Jordan!!!
One of the worst moves Dubas made was on Jake, deep down these type of moves can have lasting effects. Sid is the best ! He will always find ways to win. Thank you DK
Hopefully Letang has a great offseason recovery and can bounce back next yr.
At this point I would rather see Letang moved instead of Karlsson. I understand it’s unlikely to happen but Karlsson at least brings more offensively than Letang does. Either way need to make big changes this offseason.

Would be cool to see put up 2 or 3 points tonight and finish top 10 in scoring. Sid isn't nearly as talented as Mario or Jags, but he helped bring home 3 cups to Mario and Jager's 2. I take Sid as the more impactful on the ice.
Obviously Mario saved the franchise twice and will forever be the most important Penguin, but damn, Sid is so so good in every possible measure.
The Pens are really not that far from a playoff team. They need a real starting goalie and a couple of stay at home, big bodied, defensemen. That's it. A real starting goalie doesn't give up 3 goals in the first 10 shots in about 20 games for the year and doesn't blow about the same third period leads. As for the defensemen, the Pens love offensive defensemen. That's fine, but there has to be a couple who can push the opposition around a little in the defensive zone. Get those 3 or four players and they'll easily make the playoffs.
