Keeping the pick is absolutely the right choice.
1) they need the help in the prospect pool sooner rather than later.
2) our expectation is that the senators will be better next year, therefore a worse draft spot.
3) Maybe get lucky and get leniency on the punishment.

Give up the pick. 3 reasons.
1. 2025 draft is nowhere near as good as 2026. Players at 21 do not project to be top of lineup. Picking at the end of 2026 first round would be just as good.
2. While you don’t want to assume failure, progress is not necessarily linear and there is always a possibility that injuries hit or something happens where you don’t perform as expected.
3. Not having a first round pick in 2026 also significantly limits trade deadline flexibility if the team feels they are one player away.
Of course, all of this goes away if somehow they have figured out a solution to avoid giving up the pick at all

I disagree with the spinzone of keeping next years draft pick sends the wrong message. You can say that 2026 is expected to be a deeper draft, or that pick can be used as capital for next years deadline to address any needs going into the playoffs. There is always a chance that big injuries can happen or the team stays a step back, need to be prepared for that.
I agree with keeping the pick. Anyway, we don’t have a lot of cap space and this is a very deep draft
I would suggest that they bring in Jason Clarke. He owned the Carleton Place Canadians and brought them to the junior B finals 4 years in a row. He knows young talent.
I feel like Sens are alluding to that they are keeping their pick this year AND next year by having the NHL reverse the penalty.
Guys, we need to sign some free agents who can score goals. We have no elite goal scorers, no one scored more than 30 goals and our total offence was low. This year we defended well but need to add goal scorers in the offseason.
They need a pure scorer in that top six to replace Giroux that has speed to keep up with Stutzle. Team needs to shoot a lot more than they have been

The worst part of having the Leafs play in the playoffs is that we’re forced more or less to have to listen to Craig Simpson. A true blue homer if ever there was one. Given a choice, I’d rather listen to games in Punjabi.
