Blaming ref's for losing games is exactly why your franchise hasn't won a cup in half a century. Man up.
Problem with refs in general is that they do not want to influence the game by calling penalties but by acting in that way they are influencing the game. It changes the game when one team knows that they are not "due for a penalty" and they know that a they can get away with more. They are always trying to even things out in terms of penalties and the score even seems to influence the likelyhood of a penalty being called. As far as Wes McCauley there may have been something there but I do not know that for sure. Would be interesting to see if that record continues with either Keefe or the leafs. If you win a game by constantly interfering, holding players back on the other team, and taking players by means of concussing them are you really winning a hockey game or are you playing something entirely different than hockey with a different set of rules.

This is how EVERY fanbase feels about Wes Macaulay. The only people who dont mind him are typically new fans who saw the clips of his few funny penalty announcements.

Florida knows how good their penalty kill is(look at what they did to Tampa), and so they are willing to make so many illegal hits and anything else against the rules that it is impossible for refs to call them on all the hits.
The Panthers love especially making big hits in moments where a penalty is impossible. When those moments arise that’s exactly when they love to come in and rock another guy. If they are losing a game and have no real chance of coming back they have no problem doing the dirtiest things possible to give them an advantage in the next game.
The only real way the league can deal with this issue is to start mass suspending guys. Problem is they really don’t want to do that, especially with Florida, and once that president is sent it’s something that the league would have to keep up with. Florida is a scary team because teams like them who find a way to gain the system of the sport and have the talent to maintain dominance at their level can either make or break the sport.
A team I’d like to compare them to(though they play very differently but it’ll make sense I promise), are the trap era Devils. Monster team with a lot of great talent but truth be told their greatest asset was that they gained the system and abused the league. Eventually everyone started gaining the system like they did until it became an epidemic that the league had to shut down for a year.
Now we are seeing that same thing from teams now. Not just from the Panthers and what they have done, but from other cup champs abusing LTIR. The league has some issues right now and it’s not exactly clear how to deal with them.

You can’t blame officiating! Matthew’s is the most overrated player in the playoffs! Just not that good!
There are referees whose concept of what should be called benefits some teams' style over other team's style.
All in all I don't think penalties should be called in the playoffs unless blood is involved. I guess the panel would call me "old school".
There was a couple of icings that were wiped out that were verse the Panthers in overtime what side was W Aleion when that happened because it definitely tanked the loose just enough where they gave up that guru and OT That tripping penalty was a dive by the way you guys missed it

Yeah, I can't root for the Leafs when they defended Stolarz wailing on Grieg with his blocker and stick. Not even a Sens fan either. They defend that, then freak out on nothing, normal reffing.
Especially when the refs regularly give the Leafs favorable treatment. Like giving Grieg a penalty as well when Stolarz was assaulting him. Giving that Panthers player a back realignment and giving him an "embellishment" penalty. Leafs get away with so much. The Leafs are a pretty dirty team, they get away with a lot.

Rule proposal. Every team can blacklist 2 officials. Those officials are excluded from reffing games for that team.
Stop whining. The refs let the leafs get away with murder all game with the constant interference and holds, plus 3 missed high sticks, one drew blood. You are all homers and have no capability of putting it aside to be objective whatsoever.
