———————————– https://www.facebook.com/sportsnet https://twitter.com/sportsnet https://www.instagram.com/sportsnet/ https://www.tiktok.com/@sportsnet ———————————– #nhl

  1. What if he kicked it across the ice and the defender hit a one-timer shot directly into the net. That would count. Same thing applies here the goalie was the one who shot into his own net. It didn’t just deflect off the stick the goalie pushed it in.

  2. It is ruled a goal on the ice. After a lengthy review New York ruled that it was a good goal because Hellebuyck knocked it into his own net and did not deflect it. I agree with the call that it is a good goal.

  3. It looked like they took 7 minutes to figure out an explanation to back up why dallas should have a goal that is against the rules. The nhl doesnt want the smallest market in the conference finals. Its fairly obvious.

  4. I'm reading all these comments and no one seems to have noticed (even the officials) that right after the kick, the puck deflected off of Petrovic's stick. You can clearly see the puck's change of direction after the kick in the slow motion video. Therefore, it wasnt even a kick, it was a deflection off his own stick. Good goal.

  5. If every dumb person saying that the puck was kicked in had eyes, they would have clearly seen that the kicked puck itself must have made contact with the kicker's stick right after, since by the kick itself it was looking like it was not even heading remotely close towards the goalie, so must have had redirection by contact with the stick.

  6. Absolute trash call. He was trying to save it, the puck came from a kick, like….what??? Also, pretty crappy to say this was the goalie’s “gaffe”. The only “gaffe” was the one made by whoever made that BS call.

  7. The NHL's official game summary says its a wrist shot. Yet Refs say its a kick but goalie put it in his own net. So how can they officially call it a wrist shot and award assists?

  8. This goal goes against what the NHL’s own rulebook states lol. Not a gaffe by Hellebyuck at all. Just poor officiating.

  9. Goalie shouldn't even have to make a save if the puck gets kicked into the net. Refs looked long and hard to make up wording to circumvent their rulebook. In this case they chose propel over deflect. Basically now players should always kick puck towards the net and argue that goalie directed it in, even though by the rules it absolutely shouldn't matter what the goalie does.

  10. Pretty sure the rule state kicking the puck into the net, or if deflected on the way to the net. That puck was clearly not kicked into the net and I sure can't tell if he got his stick on it. Looks to me like he did. My question is if a player is behind the net and the net the tries to kick the puck to his stick to center the puck and it misses his stick but hits the back of the goalie and goes in the net, is that a goal? There's no doubt that a Jets player changed the direction and propelled it into the net. It wasn't a deliberate act of kicking the puck into the net…. no way in my mind at all. So how is that disallowed with a penalty which is the other choice?

  11. That puck wasn't kicked directly towards the net. It wasn't even directed at the net. He might have been trying to get the puck to his stick but there was never a deliberate act to get the puck into the net by kicking it. Then the goalie flips out and knocks it into his net.
Then the Jets totally fell apart. That's what got under my skin after all of that.

  12. As a neutral fan, based on the angle at 1:23
    1. It looks like the puck hits the stick of Petrovic after being kicked
    2. Hellebuyck sweeps/shoots the puck into his own net, which shouldn't count as a deflection. Therefor, rule 49.2 should not be applied.

    It's a good goal

  13. Good goal, he kicked the puck towards the net, it touched his stick, ever so slightly, it touched the goalies stick and redirected into the net. Look at it this way, If he was directly in front of the net and kicked it towards the net hitting his stick and hitting the goalie stick and in, it would still be a good goal, only way to say it was kicked in is if it didn’t touch his own stick, and that’s what they were looking at, it was a very lite tic on the blade but enough to say it touched it.

  14. I hate Dallas but for me this was normal goal not even considering to go to watch replay on video.
