Played very well every playoff, mistake
prioritizing backlund over the center you picked 4th overall isn’t a great excuse pinder. he did take dumb penalities and he did struggle in calgary but also putting him to rot on the 3rd and 4th lines never made any sense. backlund is a nice player but he’s barely a 2C, definitely not one on a true contender. the flames will never be able to properly develop their young talent if they prioritize short term wins / scraping into the playoffs over these young guys, which is exactly what happened. he also showed they type of grit and dawg energy in the playoffs the flames seemed to be exactly wanting, of course until they didn’t resign these guys when they had the chance and let them slip away. now we’re stuck with huberdeau, kuzmenko and sharangovich if we resign them, and are talking about maybe getting necas, all the types of players that exactly don’t work in the playoffs. the flames are so screwed the path they are on
Tinder is defending Flames management no matter what.
That was the beginning of the end. Bennett needed the right coach to get what Florida’s getting out of him now. Darryl was that coach that could have got that out of him, but too late by then since he asked to be moved. Bennett definitely wasn’t perfect and his numbers in the regular season were miserable , but you can’t say that he was never ready come playoff time. Pretty sure he was either leading or top 3 in points in the three playoff appearances with the flames.
Calgary sold the bag
Sam Bennett is another example of Brad Trelivings grotesque hockey incompetence. Horribly mismanaged player.
Bennett Never Showed Up In Calgary! He Did Not Want To Be There & It Showed In His Play & Lack Of Discipline!
Bennet was what he was.
He was mid for regular season and gold for playoffs……
He’s the kind of guy that doesn’t get you to the playoffs, but if you get him to the playoffs he gets you deep IN the playoffs.
Sam sucked here. Gave him first line minutes and he still did nothing. Pinder is 100% right here
I can give you my summary as well. My summary is that the flames management sucks.
They have no idea how to manage anybody. That's why traveling is gone? That's why Sutter is gone. That's why everybody's gone flames management sucks.
It's the coaches they mismanaged a great player.
That's why all our great management is gone now because they suck too
