  1. As a Stars fan, my elation upon victory was tempered by the sobering and heartbreaking realization that today was an awful double whammy for Mark Scheifele. I want nothing more than to console him, as I know the pain of losing a loved one all too well, grandparents in my case.

  2. Goddammit. Was so tough to watch him being in the box and Jets lose that way but playoffs hockey is war. There is no peace until it's over. Condolences to #55 Marky for the huge loss. You know that your dad Brad is so proud of you! Such a great team the Jets, we all know you will come back stronger next year and so will Mark! Go Stars!

  3. Props to the Stars’ music guy. Nothing Else Matters is the perfect song to describe losing a loved one the day of a sporting event. Life transcends this sport. What a nice tribute.

  4. It stinks Winnipeg lost, but it really doesn't matter. We all know Edmonton would beat up on either of these teams in the next round. Also, I'm not an Edmonton fan. I just can see the talent gap difference. This is Edmonton's year.

  5. 0:50 the hug between Schieflie and Mason Marchment. Mason lost his dad in 2022 and knows all too well.what Mark was going through tonight.

  6. Such an emotional loss. Winnipeg really deserves to win that game and take it to 7. I guess everything happens for a reason. All the best to Dallas.

  7. I can only imagine the emotional weight that Mark Scheifele was carrying in this game. He could have gone home to be with his family, and nobody would have blamed him at all. Yet, he chose to be with his teammates and try to win another game and try to advance. Respect for him and his professionalism. Condolences for him and his family.

  8. Dallas fan here. I really wish somehow both Jets and Dallas could've moved to the next round. I don't like Oilers but I like Jets. Everyone here in Finland has the 92-93 Finnish Flash era close to our hearts. Obviously Dallas Stars is now a very dear team for Finns as well.

  9. Wow, I’ve seen hundreds of series handshakes, and I cannot remember one so heartfelt and emotional.

  10. I thought this was the NHL playoffs not the Oprah show. If my team the Canucks got kicked outa the playoffs cuz someone personal drama was brought onto the ice I'd be pissed. He should have bowed out, not told the team why and not been a huge distraction . I don't have parents and I dont care man I'm sorry. And then he's just traded anyways…. you people have gotta be kidding me.. i'd stop watching hockey if I was a jets fans after this circus .

  11. My father passed suddenly in 2018 from heart failure and I was messed up for almost a year (by messed up I mean like really messed up).

To do what Mark did take ALOT of heart. I wouldnt be able to do it.

RIP to his father. Shout out to him

  12. I wanted to comment, typed out several things, hit the delete on all of them. No words. Peace be with you Scheifele fam.

  13. Moved to tears watching the handshake line. Loads of respect to Mark Scheifele to play such a game Knowing hes lost his dad….i couldnt do this thats for sure..Lost my dad 3 years ago and i cried watching him now. Hockey is a great sport i mean during the PO winning is the only thing but the respect afterwards is heartwarming. Thx Dallas

  14. Dallas may have won but this game will always be remembered for the incredible courage displayed by Mark Scheifele. He was amazing given the circumstances. Your dad and family are so proud of you Mark.

  15. Dont think ive ever seen a handshake this like. As a pens fan i remember martin st louis mother passed away before game 5. Pens ended up losing in 7. Couple players took bit a longer with st louis. But here felt like every other player was. Mason didn't even give him a handshake just a straight up hug.

  16. So much love to Mark Scheifle and his family. I know how hard it is to lose your dad but to have it happen the same day you are eliminated from the playoffs. 😢My deepest condolences to Mark and his family.

  17. For me what would have been great as a Canadian 3 Canadian teams in final 4…But most important as a Leafs fan Mr. Scheifele…sorry for your loss I am sending you and your Family , friends a million pound hug.

  18. The ode of leadership isn't defined by words. It's defined by actions.

Exemplified by Mark Schiefele tonight playing mere hours after learning his dad unfortunately passed away. Well done sir and my condolences to him and his family.

  19. Shed a tear watching that. For Scheifele to go out there and even score a goal after such a saddening event is quite admirable. He has my respect from a devils fan, I'm so sorry for your loss.
